I really like the nikon 50mm 1.8 ai-s pancake lens I got. Pretty dang sharp even at 1.8.

Looks a tad better than SLOG2. But with 10 bit it'll be a huge improvement over anything from the A73.

How about a good old Camera Blind Test?
thebrothersthre3 replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
I don't know, dogs seem to go straight for the ass -
Despite the issues I am going to be getting the camera soon. The price/value ratio is just incredibly high no matter how you look at it. BM is now really the only one competing against RED with a compressed RAW format. The Pocket is of course cheaper than even the RED one and probably performs better. I of course hope they solve these current issues but even if not its still a solid camera.

NX1 Colorwise - new project shot with ColorBoost settings

Very nice, I love Slavic languages. -
Replace my Nx1 with... what? (And what's the current AF champ?)

I'd say the Nikon Z6 though I doubt the dynamic range is that much better and of course its still an 8 bit H264 codec unless you record externally. Unless you get something like a C300 or C200 there isn't much out there that would be much of an upgrade. The XT3's 10 bit Flog is definitely nice. Very good auto focus as well. Probably no better in low light though. -
At the same time some of the up and coming cinematographers could also have a soft side for M43 like the GH2 onwards. I think M43 definitely doesn't have a huge place in the narrative world at least the higher end. S35 kind of already has that place and things don't usually go downwards.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
thebrothersthre3 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeah would be worth it for RAW tho. Seems like internal 10 bit of some sort should be possible too but RAW is what I think would be really sweet. -
I didn't Yeah I think the Full frame push is more consumer than higher end pros. Though there is really no reason not to go full frame, its only beneficial. That said M43 and S35 will continue to sell as long as they can continue to pack more features than the full frame counterparts. The Pocket 4k (especially if they get codec issues sorted) is an amazing deal and nothing can touch it at least under 3k.

Seems like it would be a smart move, what do they have to lose. What do I know tho -

A Pocket 4K, X-T3, 5DMk3 ML raw odyssey
thebrothersthre3 replied to The ghost of squig's topic in Cameras
Yeah If you look at The ghost of squig's test, he compared it to the Fuji XT3 and 5D MK3. None of them had a big sat boost but only the BM Pocket 4k had this issue. At least to me it also did stand out quite a bit. I don't shoot blue skies much so I guess it doesn't matter. Still concerning to me though. -

thebrothersthre3 replied to The ghost of squig's topic in Cameras
Right now that pixelation blue sky issue is kind of holding me off on the Pocket 4k. The 5D MK3 is very tempting at its price point. With the battery grip the battery life is kind of impressive to compared to the XT3 and especially the Pocket. -
That is pretty cool. What kind of battery life to you get using magic lantern? Whats attracting me right now is if I want I can also just use the standard 5D recording for family stuff and of course photos. If the battery life is decent thats a huge plus as well. I am already thinking how I'd have to rig out the Pocket 4k. Whats RAW 60p like? Sorry for all the questions lol

Only CF cards work right?

A Pocket 4K, X-T3, 5DMk3 ML raw odyssey
thebrothersthre3 replied to The ghost of squig's topic in Cameras
So as long as good cards are used there should be no issue? I had an important clip get corrupted on my XT30 using a not so great card, multiple times. Never happened with Sandisk. If thats all it is I am on board. -

Never noticed the name of the channel just recognized the voice. I pay more attention to names on here. -
Question what are the record times for HD RAW recording on the 5D Mk3? Its hard to shift through information on Magic lantern stuff.

Feature film shot in only a week & with a smartphone
thebrothersthre3 replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
Sensor size obviously matters. 1.8 on full frame and 1.8 on M43 look different end of story. I am not misinformed. I'll be the first to admit what I like is probably not very conventional. I like wide shots, seeing everything, long depth of field, slow motion. I like to see whats going on. Shooting this way is expensive and difficult though and I rarely even do it myself. The choice to use shallow DOF or not, is an artistic decision. Its my artistic opinion that DOF is one of the least important things when it comes to making a film. I also think its overly used especially in many modern movies. Its great to have when you are dealing with shitty ass locations where no set design took place. I use it all the time often partially for that reason. If I had a beautiful set to show up things would be much different. There are a ton of highly paid professionals that make artistic choices that I think look shitty. Its just a difference of opinion and when it comes to art there really is no right or wrong. -
Black magic should have done that dammit
-
That actually looks hella nice. M43 sensor 24-75 focal length Would be cool to see a camera like that with 10 bit or RAW recording.

I am not sure on that one.
