  1. Yeah I just can't risk it with weddings or anything really haha. 1080p RAW is perfectly fine for me. I can't really handle a 4K uncompressed RAW workflow.
  2. True, even with unpaid gigs it would royally suck to lose all the footage from a long day.
  3. The Pocket 4k and XT3 look really similar in that test. The 5D stands out with more contrast. Zooming in the Pocket shadows look the least pleasing, less color and more noise. The XT3 is second being cleaner, a bit more color but its still muted. The 5D isn't as clean as the XT3 but the color is more vibrant. The 5D is definitely tempting me right now. But I am unsure how reliable Magic lantern is and of course you don't get 4k 60p or 120fps.
  4. Thinking about it now I'll probably sell the XT30, I like the XT3 body more and of course internal 10 bit is nice to have. I am not sure if I'll go this route or not. It would definitely throw a wrench in my system. Would satisfy my never ending new camera acquisition syndrome tho lol The plus side is I already have a bunch of manual glass I can adapt so that would be an easy switch.
  5. My only worry with using a 5D mk3 or any Canon with magic lantern is the unreliability. I've heard of people losing all their footage, which of course is not acceptable for pro work. Right now I have my XT30, Black Magic Pocket OG, and Pocket cinema Camera. Might consider selling the XT3 for a Pocket camera 4k. I am tempted to get a 5D mk3 but again Magic lantern kind of scares me.
  6. I'd love to see some comparison footage. Wasn't expecting the Pocket to be significantly better than the Fuji. Its a very tempting option right now along with a hacked 5D mark 3. How does prores compare to the HEVC on the Pocket?
  7. You have to treat it like any other business and put all your free time into it. Finding a niche or doing something that appeals to a wide audience and doing it really well is the key. Controversial and outrageous stuff gets attention a lot faster thats for sure.
  8. I second the RX100, the newest model you can afford. Pretty good lowlight as well as an awesome zoom range depending on the model you get. Also lots of different frame rate options.
  9. Yeah the human eye is interesting. The only time you get what resembles bokeh with your sight is when you hold something up close to your eye. Otherwise you just see whatever you look at, everything else doesn't really go out of focus but at the same time you don't see it as clearly because you aren't focusing on it. Shallow DOF can definitely direct attention to a certain thing. At the same time it can feel odd as it often simply doesn't resemble what we see with our eyes. Though I think people have gotten used to it in Cinema. imho if your movie is engaging your audience will know where to look without shallow DOF?
  10. Cine1 is a good option. Not as flat as S-log but still gives a ton of room for grading. That said Andrew's log profiles are nice, he provides a bunch of luts to get a look you like as well.
  11. I don't think DOF matters that much. Set design and lighting are usually what makes a production look cheap, as well as acting and sound.
  12. Seems like it just depends on the skill of the focus puller. No doubt though for me auto focus is definitely ideal for certain situations. Other times it just feels like an odd crutch if you can have a focus puller tho.
  13. True, at the moment I don't have a budget for anything though had to take out a family loan to get a 2nd camera for backup lol.
  14. GH2 seems to be selling for about $200 on ebay right now slightly above the $150 mark. My GH2 stopped working with adapted lenses though so my only option is my Olympus 17mm 1.8 which isn't really a cheap lens. Its not terribly expensive but not a 50 buck 50mm
  15. The low light performance is probably a lot better than the Ursa as well as having PDAF and of course Canon color.
  16. So is my GH2 not allowed because I bought it like 3 years ago?
  17. Its better than Gerald Undone's sunset video
  18. Its generally not a huge priority in what I do. As long as its decent.
  19. Doesn't the C200 have a lot more Dynamic range?
  20. Competition usually brings innovation though.
  21. Well if he has work that looks amazing I'd chalk it up to an odd artistic choice. If not its more likely that its just bad work.
  22. Didn't realize the C300 mk2 doesn't do 4k 60p. Canon loves to gimp their cameras.
  23. The GH5S has more true to life color science from the color chart tests I've seen.
  24. I browsed through his video titles to see if he had any work posted but couldn't really find anything, at least looking at the titles.
