That article seems to confirm high speed 4k Cinema dng RAW 12 bit 444.

Oh dang I didn't know the Inferno did RAW 120.
-
They may not have RAW 120 capabilities tho. Right now the Odyssey 7q is the cheapest option for 4k 120p raw.

I know man got mine with a grip/batteries for $640 usd, that's downsampled 6k video! The A6300 sells for a similar price too.

The Nikon Z6 will be the firat consumer camera to output 12 bit video
thebrothersthre3 replied to liork's topic in Cameras
The Nikon Z6 has a great image and nice colors. Some people dislike the Sony sensor which has a certain feel to it, people say it has a video look. The thing is there is nothing wrong with a video look and with work anything can be made to look more filmish if that is the intent of the project. There are other things to consider like motion cadence, but few people will notice things like that. Most things people talk about on here don't matter that much, its just tech people obsessing over tech. -
Yes the FS700 is the cheapest. There is a used one on eBay right now for $1200. You have to add in the cost of an external recorder with both cameras, the odyssey 7Q does 4k RAW I believe.

Probably, would love a tilt screen though. The body is really nice though, nicest grip and overall feel of any body I've used so far. I've heard the internal battery doesn't have a long life and you have to pay BM to replace them tho.

That's true, probably not realistic for Black Magic. Even though they somehow managed to put the Pocket 4k out at $1300. I really appreciate small companies like Black Magic though.

The A7S2 should be superior if its a video focused camera. Everything is setup for Sony to knock it out of the ballpark, they've waited everyone out. It needs Sony Venice though and they need to get a handle on overheating. That said if the S1's start showing up used for $2000 it will be hard to deny. The firmware update is expensive but the built in HLG should suffice, though I'd prefer 10bit H264 as its easier to edit.

I think Black Magic should pull a Canon and release a Pocket v2 with the old sensor but with Braw, full size hdmi, and a brighter tilt screen at like a $650 price point. Well that would probably still be cooler than Canon. I'd probably get it.

Lighting Breakdown - Short Film "Guard the Robe"
thebrothersthre3 replied to Maxbrand's topic in Cameras
Very cool breakdown! I am getting into gaffing so I always love to see articles like this. -
Weird, maybe I should research if my power bank is harmful. On another note the RAW footage has realtime playback on my PC, which is cool as no other camera I've ever used has that, well maybe like a Canon EOS M 35mbps recording.

Good to hear!!! Yeah cards are getting pretty dang cheap. I am looking at getting a 256gb card in case I need to do a long recording. Its very good to hear it won't shut down even in hot weather. I'll have to check the firmware. I like playing with crazy dynamic range scenes so RAW may be something I'll use a lot. Though I am sure prores is advantageous in some ways with less noise. I'll be extra careful with the HDMI, I plan on keeping a small mini to full HDMI adapter in the camera with the cage clamp at all times. I would hope never removing it will minimize any damage. Waiting on a B&W IR filter in the mail. WB at 4500 is an interesting idea. The BMCC go for more especially the MFT mounts. I wanted one though the internal battery was a turn off for me as well as the black sun issue(did it ever get resolved??). I love the bigger body and screen though. I used to own an F3 but sold it off, it definitely had a nice image but I like smaller camera form factors better. The FS700 is a really nice setup with an external recorder. It can do 4k 120 RAW and 240p HD RAW. I've heard the dynamic range is really good too. Kind of an odd and bulky setup though nothing beats it at its price point right now. With 4K raw recording its a good deal future proof too. I just got it in the mail btw, playing with RAW. Even though I'll have to rig it up more I really like the body. The grip is just the best I've ever handled. So friggin comfortable.

Yeah but it's doing full frame 4k 10bit and 12bit out. I agree the Auto focus limitation is a bummer. -
Shooting with the Panasonic S1 in Barcelona

If you look at the brightest portion of the chart on all four cameras none of them really match. That said I don't know really how it works. -
Saw that video, looks as expected.

That's because the GH5 is a micro 4/3rds camera though. Its got significantly better dynamic range than any SLR on the market right now. No unlimited recording in 4k 60p is a bummer though. Its a much better body than Sony has in the A7III, so I don't really mind the extra premium, I mean they went all out on the body. Of course auto focus kinda sucks, but if you are a GH5 user that shouldn't matter much. I don't really think the expensive lenses could be avoided. Adapting probably is a very affordable option. I get why a lot of people wouldn't want to switch to an expensive brand new system. But at least to me the S1 is probably the nicest full frame camera on the market right now for video, aside from auto focus. That said I am sticking with my Fujis. ? If the S1 gets close to doing 13 stops with Vlog I'd be tempted, though it is a 3k system after you pay for 10bit and vlog. It would have been nice if they had marketed it as a video centered camera and gave it a flip screen and all. Oh well lets hope the GH6 is something great.
