  1. Is it just me, or is it weird how people just seemed to have mostly stopped talking about this camera over the past several months? I only got my G85 back in April personally and yet these days I'm seeing people typically refer back to the G7 more often than the G85!
  2. Just repeating what I said on Twitter, but it'd be really clever of Nikon to cash in on the current lack of an A7sIII by announcing a new video-focused Z-mount camera, as opposed to the Z6 and Z7 being hybrid models. Or perhaps another thing Nikon could do to steal attention away from Sony is incorporate a firmware update for the Z6 and Z7 to shoot in anamorphic mode? While users would probably have to shoot that in a Super35-type crop, I think that could be a feature that would light up more attention from the video crowd. Imagine adapting something like the Atlas Orion anamorphic lenses onto the Z6 or Z7 and being able to use it properly without creating too wide of an image?
  3. Can you please ask if Fujifilm has any plans to make some cine lenses for the GFX 100 in the near future or down the line, since the company is clearly prepping for the day Medium Format becomes more common?
  4. I doubt there'll be a time limit, but I can definitely see the camera only being able to do 4k60p at 8 bit internal and 10 bit via external recorder. Definitely interested in learning more about this camera. The thing I really want to learn more about is the color science.
  5. That's definitely a valid point! That said I'd argue that you can also adapt EF glass to Sony cameras for a similar price, though admittedly I doubt the performance would be quite as seamless as it'll likely be for the EOS-R. Moreover there are more and more options out there for the E-mount at a reasonable price, so long as you're content with not immediately aiming for the G Master line. The new Tamron 28-70mm f2.8, for example, is apparently a great and relatively cost effective option for a quality all-rounder zoom lens on that mount. And if you're cool with shooting in Super35 mode a bit more often at first, Sigma has a few E-mount primes for APS-C sensors that are pretty affordable too that I hear are great. And by the same token, the most exciting part of the EOS-R right, I think, is probably the new EF-R line of lenses... which are similarly pricey to the Sony G Masters.
  6. Yup. There's no such thing as "the perfect camera." If some people here end up preferring the EOS-R over its competition, then that's great! Everyone has different tastes and want different things out of their cameras. Personally speaking though, it's hard to think of enough reasons to justify spending that extra $300 for the EOS-R compared to the A7iii or Z6 or the extra $800 if you're considering something like the Fuji X-T3. It's just a question of what ends up happening regarding the majority of the market compared to the minority.
  7. Obviously there are compromises, that's just inevitable, but compare it to the competition it's supposed to be targeting (the Sony A7iii and Nikon Z6). I'm just one person, but while there are obviously some very exciting things about the new R line (especially the lenses), the camera itself just feels like it falls short compared to its two obvious competitors... and it's overpriced compared to either camera at that. That's part of what doomed the Fuji X-H1 earlier this year when Sony announced the A7iii mere weeks afterward for a similar price range (and in fact was less expensive if you bought the X-H1 with the battery grip for its full potential IIRC). Hugh Brownstone nailed it IMO. I'm not saying that the EOS-R is a bad camera. I haven't touched one myself, and I doubt I'll get the chance anytime soon personally, so I can't really comment on that. But at the end of the day, the price is inevitably a factor here since this camera doesn't just exist inside a vacuum. The context of the camera market and what other options are out there now to compare the EOS-R to factor in with that price and the camera just seems like it's bound to fall short for most.
  8. Whoa nelly, that footage looks gorgeous! Still leaning towards the Fuji X-T3 as far as color science goes, but either camera seems pretty promising to me.
