  1. Yeah, it transfers heat from the camera into your hands. Doesn’t work very well. Thank you! It was getting a bit tedious.
  2. I saw those movies. What’s your point? They advertise comic books movies everywhere. There has been so many in the last three years it’s nauseating. Some are good. Most are more loosely woven together than Tom & Jerry cartoons.
  3. I told them to remove the micro HDMI, because its worthless anyhow, and use the small port to install a tiny exhaust fan,
  4. This smells like desperate marketing ”rumor” bullshit to keep people from canceling pre-orders.
  5. For those interested in IBIS performance. I would argue the A6600 does not have “steadyshot inside”.
  6. Canon released sports cars with a 0.5 liter tank.
  7. This is one of the reasons I haven’t even stepped foot in a cinema. It’s just comic book movie after another. Last time I went was to see Dunkirk. Seems to me a lot of movies have gone the way of electronics or fast food...just consumer mass market trash with very little substance.
  8. I really think the direction that Sony is going, having a gyroscope and accelerometer in the camera, instead of a IBIS mechanism, is the way to go in the future. They just have to correct for rolling shutter and start doing the stabilization internal as you shoot so no post workflow required.
  9. I wonder what the two white boxes are blocking. MAybe prototype numbers to avoid being tracked for leaks...
  10. I’m not cross in any way. I’m just saying the 1:1 4K from the A7S might be a problem for some that are use to looking at 4K from a 6K oversample (A7III Fuji Xt4...)
  11. I don’t know about you, but if I was paying 3,500 to 4000 for a camera I would want a great 4K deliverable. As a GH5S owner, having a 1:1 4K readout hasn’t posed a problem for me. Technically, it might no be as detailed and “crispy” as a 6K to 4K oversampled but it’s all going to a 4K IBP deliverable anyway 98% of the time.
  12. Maybe because they aren’t allowed to show comparisons of these modes because Canon is going hard to control the narrative while preorders are being made. To be fair the S1H is pretty big but not much more than the R5. Maybe they are practically the same size.
  13. The accumulated heat, even after a 2 hour(!) cool down with lens off and battery out, is crazy. I have a feeling a lot of people that pre-ordered with their hands over their ears wishing for the best are going to be disappointed. Unless of course all you do is stills.
  14. Is it more likely they will put S-cinetone in the A9II to match with the newer FX-9 and rumored FX-5?
  15. Yes, and based on how Sony has been building their A7 line lately I think the more popular camera may be a future A7IV hybrid. My bet is it will have 4K60p with a gimped codec as always but maybe a higher resolution sensor for that target $2K price. The new A7S will mostly likely be an excellent camera especially if they add latest PDAF but I think the hard decision will be the lack of MP for someone that wants a hybrid camera that does a cut above in video but has some photo capabilities. 14MP might be too low for many.
  16. This is just....ridiculous. Come one. $4000, sexy, weather sealed camera and you are going to mod it like its a gaming PC. WTF.
  17. Not a good test case for raw DR as they were using a bounce light (like you should) for those window shots (first screen shot).
  18. So, AP got a bunch of free Sony gear in exchange for announcing that they are exclusively using Sony mirrorless. Cool. Makes sense if they wanted mirrorless gear Sony was by far the safest option. This was a smart move on Sony's part because mindshare among professionals is worth 10x the weight of gold.
  19. Olympus does best in Japan. I think they cut the fat off, streamline, and take a shot at continuing sales in Japan. Biggest question will they spend the money to innovate future products in any meaningful way? I’m kinda hoping Panasonic will buy some important assets if this happens, mainly any PDAF patents or licenses (or whatever is going on with that shit) and become the primary innovator for the MFT consortium. Maybe collaborate with Blackmagic to move the mount forward? Maybe develop a newer mount with backwards compatibility with a much larger diameter and shallower flange. Like a theoretical MFT+ mount with 55mm diameter and a 15mm flange. Backwards compatible with MFT using an adapter, perhaps with a ND, hmmm maybe? Also opens the door for MAS with IBIS at larger sizes.
  20. You can set two different zebras and then customize a button to cycle through them. For example, a 80IRE zebra for clipping and a 60IRE for skin. You can then use a custom button an cycle through 80 -> 60 -> none and then back to 80. This is the fastest. I want the same thing for view assist LUTs. I use this one. https://luts.iwltbap.com/false-color-lut/ Just zebras and waveform.
  21. Technical Artist just takes stock footage and slaps a "Shot on Canon R5 on it".
  22. Just some vague rumors from April of this year. 4K and 6K. Improved AF system. Possibly 3 models. Announcement late 2020, shipping early 2021. All of that seems really far away, especially the announcement. It seems latest Sony sensor advancements have slowed considerably and now all the train cars are starting to pile up on each other (similar features and capabilities across the brands).
