I’ve kinda written off Nikon but I was looking at the Z50 and rumors on the Z6S. As a whole, that little Z50 with the Z DX lens looks super compact. Video quality is decent. I’m still leaning Canon for FF. Sony is uninspiring. Anyrhing from blackmagic has a nice image lately but their bodies are not for me.

Jared Polin doesn't get it - EOS R5 overheating
Video Hummus replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
This is the dance product channels are forced to do less they get boycotted by company marketing departments. Jared looked real pretty twirling for Canon in that video but the stench you're smelling doesn't lie. Pretty lazy video no doubt to be followed up by an even lazier video: "Canon confirms Overheating"...another 160K views. -
Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues – in both 4K and 8K
Video Hummus replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
For my needs the R5 might be the FF camera for me. Going to wait to see what the A7SIII and GH6 brings. Maybe the R5 will get a price drop by end of year but I doubt it. That or I will just get the GH6 and wait for prices to come down before I get a FF. -

Might squeak out some more DR with Clog3. Do we know what mode this was shot in? -

It’s crazy. Profiting off giving choice to users who really want it. Crazy idea. Canon is really controlling the narrative around this launch. They give the camera to reviewers and then they tell them you can’t talk about RS or anything like they until they release the camera! Meanwhile people preordering with a sense of naivety around it all. -

I applaud your optimism! YouTube is built to punish meaningful 10+ minute videos at the moment. -
I hear 2021 might be our year!...maybe.

Since Mr. Nuemann started off with a Softball question to warm things up. @Andrew Reid, having run EOSHD solo for so many years where you have routinely written about your frustrations over and over again about the same persistence and repeated short comings of every brands cameras, would you consider yourself a masochist? If not, what kind of mental health problem would you say you have?

Highly likely. Fair warning, don’t go into the comments section unless you really want to live first hand the scene in Star Wars where they fall into the garbage compactor. Taking a shower now. Gems like “The slow drip of rumors of the A7SIII is actually pp on canon”. You’ve been warned.

Okay, 15 stops dynamic range minus 1 to 1.5 stops for the bullshit factor. So roughly 13.5 to 14 real stops. 16 Bit raw photos or is that RAW video via HDMI? 600Mbps sounds logical considering the 720Mbps max for V90 UHS-II cards. So basically a FX-9 in a A7 body? Wheres the catch?

Canon EOS R5 overheating vs Panasonic S1H and Sigma Fp designs

So anybody going to Iceland for the holidays no problem! There is fine print in the manual. You have to look close when reading it. ”Unlimited 8K RAW recording up to 30p* * when used above or below the Arctic and Antarctic circles respectively.** **except where there is global warming.” -
Just stumbled across this.. Self shot, self made music video (shot on GH5). Pretty freaking creative. Looked like a lot of fun. So maybe pick a song and we all make a music video. Perhaps with camera restrictions and a focal length restriction. Just an idea.

Eh, I’m still waiting for a more lightweight motorized slider that can hold a modern mirrorless and doesn’t need a flipping app to do basic shit. The Zeapon Motorized slider comes close, but it is a brick.

Disappointed in the Canon R6 - Coming From A Canon User
Video Hummus replied to herein2020's topic in Cameras
So what happens when your camera overheats and shutdowns and won’t let you record? No image is the worst image. I’m not a professional. But if I was taking money to do a job I wouldn’t feel comfortable using the R5 or R6 based on what I know at this time. It would require you to know exactly the cameras limits from extensive experience using it, especially since temperature records times are documented as being variable in the manual! As it stands the R5 is a great camera for me because Im doing stuff for my own business that someone else isn’t paying me to do. It’s all on me and I suffer the consequences of my gear shitting the bed when I need it. I’m also saying give the R5/R6 a chance! Doesn’t mean I don’t think the temperature and record limits are huge show stoppers for a lot of use cases out there, including YouTube and vlogging. -

Perhaps its not a stretch to see that the R5 and especially the R6 are suckers cameras too? Sounds like the R5 and R6. At least the GH5 was released in 2017. Can’t wait to see some of your work with these phone cameras. Please post it in the footage section please! LOL. Okay. How come Super8 went from -50 points back to 0? Has to be the most downvoted member here. It’s because of comments like these. -
Looks really solid. What lens did you use? I think projects like yours are an excellent example of a use case for a future GH6. If the GH6 offered a solid 4K up to 120p unlimited recording. Vastly improved autofocus. A bright and accurate Flip LCD and one of the newer EVFs. They already have the excellent and much loved XLR hot shot adapter. Add in some kind of useable internal RAW recording. Full Vlog and 1 stop extra DR from GH5S (12.5-13). They would have an excellent and light camera that would punch above its weight. Without the need for an external recorder and with excellent add-on audio interface when the job requires it. It’s pretty clear that FF isn’t quite there yet sub cinema camera costs. RS issues. Overheating issues. Crop modes to fix those issues or low MP stacked sensors that remove the “hybrid” from the mirrorless camera that everybody wants. I hope Panasonic is taking notes.

Will be interesting to see if he sticks with using the R5 for vlogging. Sounds like the overheating issue will pop up every time he vlogs with it. The DR in video hasn’t caught up with Sony either. Still a huge void left for someone like Panasonic to take advantage of with either a GH or S camera. They just need good AF, and that’s all they need really. Its pretty clear messaging from Canon. They view these as kinda hybrid cameras but mostly photo cameras. If you want Canon for video is currently C200/300/500. Honestly the R is still the better YouTuber vlog camera. R6 falls short with all the gotchas. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a video from any of the Canon YouTube personalities that they are sticking with the R. -

15mm is pretty damn wide. Very hard to eliminate wobble without doing a digital crop EIS. -

I’m not so sure. I think it’s more about them shaping the market then not being able to come up with a cooling solution after 5+ years of development. -

Why didn’t Canon just stick a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro in the body? It would probably fit and doesn’t need active cooling so wouldn’t over heat. Someone needs to do a tear down of the R5 internals. -

If they release the rumored firmware that adds Clog3 for more DR and If you have no temperature limits on pixel binned 4K modes, then the R5 is the camera to get for people with RF or EF glass. The more we learn of the R6 the less of a bargain it becomes. I wouldn’t plug anything into that micro hdmi port. They switched to the micro hdmi port for a reason. HINT: it wasn’t space savings.
