  1. Must be the new Mavic 3 Pro with 35mm sensor.
  2. I counted 3, maybe 4 shallow depth of field shots in that entire gorgeous film.
  3. At what, like 5Gbps.... Have fun with that.
  4. Shots fired. I said it before, but I think the S1H is going to be a cult favorite, especially if Panasonic continues to improve it through firmware upgrades. It would have been a run away success if they fixed the damn autofocus once and for all. But I’m kinda exhausted with all the new stuff. I’m ignoring all the shiny new toys this year and instead diverting that excitement and energy into creating.
  5. I’m buying that EOS R5! Oh, someone pinched me...I’m back in the reality. Im just going to keep my GH5S and hope for a late 2020 announcement of a GH6, perhaps the last MFT camera from Panasonic. Should be good for the next 3 years 🙃
  6. Canon traditionally released under whelming spec’d cameras and now suddenly has the fastest readout of any sensor, better IBIS than Panasonic and Olympus, and 8K 30p RAW in a mirrorless form factor? Why isn’t that in the C500, their flagship cinema camera?
  7. I’ll believe it when it’s released and in peoples hands. Highly doubt Canon would sell you an R camera with better specs and less money than a C500.
  8. Some of the best times was milk runs in my Ferrari. It’s only down the street but it only takes 6 seconds to go from 0-60.
  9. 75% lightning and composition, 20% lens, 5% camera with any camera made after 2016. I mean with the new way of filming... https://www.slashfilm.com/the-mandalorian-stagecraft-photos/ They probably could have filmed the Mandolorian with a GH5 and nice cinema lenses, definitely an S1H. You don’t need Alexa levels of Dynamic range when the background is a digital HDR screen.

    Panasonic GH6

I really hope they give us the tilt + flip in the next MFT camera. Sometimes I just want a tilt screen as well.

    Panasonic GH6

Yep! I mean it has a pathetic wimpy MFT sensor so maybe 1,800 😉
  12. I think this is why the Netflix cert. actually means something. Netflix tested it, they approved it, most likely it will be more than sufficient for Sub-Netflix productions.

I think they already have a really great target to hit...The S1H. Just delivery a MFT little brother to the S1H. Mainly: 1. 5.9K 16:9 video with their lovely internal codecs 2. Full Vlog 3. 13.5 -14 stops of dynamic range 4. Dual gain sensor ISO 640 / 3000 5. The EVF and tilty and flippy screen. 6. No crop 4K60/96/120p unlike the S1H. 7. Of course the excellent MFT IBIS. Lastly, If they can deliver some kind of ND solution they’ll have hit it out of the park and into the parking lot smashing Sonys windshield Internal RAW is great, but it seems the 10-bit 4:2:2 codec Panasonic has been iterating on is quite impressive. Good enough for Netflix. Hold up to normal grading with stellar results. I’ve come around on 6K. I think it’s the perfect middle ground between the massive overhead of 8K and offering flexibility in post and a truly crispy excellent 4K deliverable (4K is just now catching on for online video). I think delivering a no compromises S1H in MFT form factor is very doable.
  14. Well, with a 15 min recording limit. How does Fuji manage to pack so much horsepower into their cameras? They must have competent SoC engineers. After a bit of digging. I can find most of the DSP and CPU designs (all ARM based and from third parties except for Fuji’s. Which are probably in house. Sonys are in house too.
  15. You don’t need 4K when you shoot all your videos in a fish bowl, like Tony. Nothing stays in the focus plain anyway.
  16. This is priced very oddly. New, unknown player in the market...Chooses MFT to make 8K sensor camera instead of say FF which has gone Super Saiyan in the market...Asking $2500-$4000K. Its almost like a proof of concept for other companies to take notice.
  17. Fuji is barreling down the tracks. A lot of features packed into this thing. The virtual gimbal is interesting. I know it requires high shutters speeds but if your shooting video you can use something like Really Smart Motion Blur (some Hollywood movies have used this) to get back your 180 degree motion blur.
  18. The L-mount roadmap listed super-zoom in 2020. It's awesome tech! It just happens to be an exclusive in camera tech for only Sony!
  19. Panasonic should just use IR or ultrasonic AF to satisfy the 0-10 meters vlogging scenario and use DfD for the rest if there is some conspiracy against them using PDAF.
  20. Is it in house Sharp sensor I wonder?
  21. Sounds too good to be true. I hope the X-H2 sized body and weather sealing is correct. Much prefer that form factor over X-T3. For Fuji owners, how do you find the native lenses for video?
  22. I was not saying that in my reply. I was saying that the answer is probably a truly convoluted, twisted mess. But I still don’t get the logic. You would think Sony, inventor of the Walkman, would want to do there best to “own” the market. To make Sony a household name in the camera business and by extension gain brand recognition in all their other endeavors. Maybe the truth is Sony cannot restrict PDAF sensors to Nikon, Olympus, and Fuji because those companies owns something in the PDAF technology stack OR because of some convoluted technology sharing, swap or patent deal with Minolta (now owned by Sony). Case in point is the squabble between Honeywell and Minolta over patent infringements of autofocus technology (TCL) developed my Honeywell. Honeywell won, but claimed this in its victory in 1992: “Honeywell attorneys, for example, said that pretrial investigations had uncovered cooperative practices among the Japanese manufacturers, cooperation the attorneys say would constitute antitrust violations in the United States. Camera industry committees in Japan discussed both the design and pricing of new products before they reached market, Honeywell said Monday.” I suspect things probably haven’t changed that much. Hence, why no one can make the perfect camera.
  23. Maybe add a community score too where the community submits their score on it.
  24. First train picture of the window is very nice. Dramatic and moody. Let me guess, Sony Semi. refuses to license PDAF to Leica too? Do they get shafted because they occasionally sit next to Panasonic at the lunch table? I gotta say the SL2 is much more interesting to me than the Fp, except for the cost of course. The difference in 4K quality kinda shocked me as well as the option of 5K 10-bit. I would like to see the SL2 compared to the S1H. Whose got 10K laying around?
