Fuji with it's X-mount (<18mm flange) is in prime position to create that "use any lens you want" camera with X adapter... A LF (43.8 mm x 32.9 mm) Cinema camera would probably make more sense though in that market space. But I think it would absolutely require RAW or REDcode license to be successful.

That doesn't make any sense to me. FujiFilm and Nikon are just as much a competitor with Sony Alpha as Panasonic. What is Panasonic offering us (and competing with Sony with) that Fujifilm doesn't? Fuji and Panny both have 4K 60p cameras. They both offer 10-bit recording modes. They both have competent color science. They both compete with Sony's A7 series of cameras. Why sell PDAF to Nikon, a proven household name in quality cameras, with it's FF Z6 & Z7 which is a direct competitor to the A73 and the A7R3 when it was released! Why let any other competitor have PDAF? They could refuse to sell/license it to anybody and force them all to contrast AF and compete only with Canon. No. There is something much more to the story that probably stems from weird contorted patent deals or technology partnerships that Panasonic just happened not to be a partner too. Either that or Panasonic slept with Sony Alphas mom or something. Hopefully someday there will be a documentary about this market for us camera nerds. Kinda weird and mysterious and cloak and dagger. @Andrew Reid when can we expect this? 😁

Not anymore. Latest firmware added PDAF to the aging EM1.2 Who are you quoting here? Sony has momentum. Anything they put out besides a complete turd will be sold and hyped like no tomorrow. I wouldn’t be surprised that every single YouTuber that has touched a Sony will be hyping the A7S4 and reading those taking points. I know a couple of people that bought the A73 and it was their first camera...ever. Why? They saw all those YouTube videos “saying this the the camera to get Full Frame 4K $2000!!!!” , when it came out. I bought one too. I didn’t keep it in the end. I hope all of these companies are successful. I really hope Canon wakes up and releases an R camera everybody wanted to begin with. Im a Panasonic fanboy but I’m getting tired of their very stubborn approach to their AF. Either get it to work or just move on and pay to have PDAF. Everybody, I mean everybody that has touched a Panny, wants it. They could have starting eating everybody’s lunch if it wasn’t for their shitty AF performance.

The A7SIV is rumored to have a bigger body? So it’s pretty safe to say it will finally offer 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording...maybe? 4.8K is a bit odd unless it’s some kind of RAW output (kinda like the 1DXM3 that offers a 5.5K from its 20.1 MP sensor) Regardless I’m sure it will blow up YouTube and everybody will sell their A73s and R4s they just bought to get it. Yep. I have a feeling the color change on the helmet was so it didn't clash with their logo color (or the color they chose to use for the logo). Very similar with the original helmet. They also cleaned up his jersey and removed the green cast from the field.

Apparently Laowa is developing a new f/0.95 MFT lens. Rumored to be in the 20-35mm zoom range (40-70). Would be awesome if they got closer to andrews 28-50. Doesn't need to be pin sharp if it’s going to be manual and a video lens. Venus Optics and 7artisans are doing interesting stuff.

Apparently Sports Illustrated didn’t care either. That would be a 30 second Hue mask correction. So I think we have our answer. Also, 24.2 MP image then cropped good enough for cover of magazine. A EM1X with a 20MP and a 600mm equiv. lens would probably yield better results, except for maybe DoF. Looks light more than enough light on that field.

I think MFT is pretty much maxed out as well with how current IBIS mechanisms work with gyro and accelerometers. The next best thing MFT could do is have a protocol for taking that IBIS sensor data and feeding it to a in camera EIS algorithm or attach it to a clip with metadata and then develop plugins for NLEs to use it. Honetly the latest Olympus camera with EIS and a Sync-IS lens (like the excellent 24-100 f/4) and a two handle cage rig get pretty close to this with a post warp stabilizer. Especially if you cheese out and put in fake cinescope or 2:1 aspect ratio black bars.

That lens would probably make the 10-25 look petite. Not sure how I feel about that as a 10-25 owner. I’m sometimes wishing my 25mm could stretch to 35mm. I’m of the opinion that FF f/2 DOF is the lower limit for me. It’s just enough, not too much. The f1.7 with f/3.1 FF equiv. DOF is a sweet spot (on GH5S sensor; 3.4 on MFT) falls nicely in between FF f/2 and f/4. Easy to manual focus, DoF isn’t distracting, ability to get nice out-of-focus areas at the longer focal length and shorter distances when you want to. Maybe the 14-50 f/1.8 should have been the lens they should have made instead of the 10-25? It’s like the perfect do-it-all lens.

Almost all MFT sensors as of late have been tweaked variations of industrial sensors, no? Improved coatings on sensors? What are those? Never heard anyone talks about coatings on sensors.

@Sage Any downsides to acquiring in HLG and then converting to Vlog-L and then Rec709 using GHAlex? Maybe I’m crazy, but I find the AF is better when there is a bit more contrast in a profile.

Just make a camera with an adaptable mount and multi-aspect sensor with JVC's VSM and problem solved. Marketing: Use any lens you have!

I was only speculating. I have no idea what the licensing terms are. Well there you go. More reason to add it.

Tony’s video reminds me of a nightmare I had recently.

I don’t think we will see anything smaller than S35 from BM. But to be honest the sensor in the P4K is chasing the coat tails of being a S35 sensor. JVC did it quite well. You might get lucky!

I know. We are all insane. And these are $2000 investments. Not 25K or 100K cinema cameras. In a world were 80% of people consume content on 6.7” phone screens on average. Maybe we are out of touch. Time for another low budget camera challenge. You wouldn’t know it ?

Sony is very popular with YouTube crowd. My guess is most don’t even care about skin tones that much to begin with. I had the A7III when it first came out and people were back ordered on it. Bought Andrews EOSHD color and took it to Iceland. Sold it when I got back. Everybody was raving about the autofocus but I had situations where it was just pulsing crap fest. The oversampled 6K image looked nice though. Bought a GH5S instead because I couldn’t wait for a GH5 Replacement with GH5S lowlight performance. Really miss my IBIS.
