For me, just the IBIS would be enough because I can then move from my current 3 body set up to my more ideal 2 body. I wouldn't complain and could make use of 4k 100/120p but wouldn't be a deal-breaker... 6k doesn't interest me at all. I can see the argument for it somewhere in the future but pretty sure my clients just watch their wedding videos on their phones and that's about it. I have no illusions that I am creating some kind of hi def art that maybe Netflix will want to showcase! Nah, 4k is more than good enough for my needs. I could easily use 1080.

Yep, the Benro Hi Hat 75 jobbie is EXACTLY what I am looking for. If I can connect my Sirui after removing it's own feet, job done, ie, slightly heavier, but much more stable monopod.
-
I will take a look at Benro otherwise the lighting stand idea is something I had not considered and maybe a good one!

Unless shooting 4K 60p and then it’s 1.18 This is a good thing for me though as my 35mm lens becomes equivalent to more like a 60mm. (35 x 1.5 x 1.18) I also took a really good look at the Z6 and decided although it was probably a very slightly better stills camera, despite the IBIS, not quite as good for video. I have run 2 systems before and don’t much care for it so sticking with Fuji for both as everything is interchangeable when you have 3 bodies all the same but 5 lenses!

The only thing I have between camera and monopod is a quick release plate. Tried several heads and even a Ronin gimbal but every option just added weight or time. I shoot statically, ie let my subject provide any movement and my prime use of a mono is: A: no IBIS in XT3 and B: no fast OIS lenses. Just tried the only OIS prime I could find, one of the new Tamron’s and it’s stabilisation is a bit crap. And no, don’t suggest XH1, no 4K 60p. Or mention any other camera brand. It’s far simpler (though not simple) to sort out my mono/tripod question than replace an entire kit...and the footage is fabulous SOOC. I have a friend who is a blacksmith so may ask him if he could fabricate something for me to extend the feet on my current Sirui. Or adapting mono stick to tripod legs may be the answer. I will let you know when Frankenpod (TM) has been brought to life!

Nothing above really suits my needs. Maybe I need to manufacture something myself and float it on Kickstarter?! The Sirui I already have is still the closest but I just wish it had a bigger ‘tripod’ base. The answer may be to mount a monopod pole onto a non-extended tripod base... I find it strange that something like this does not exist (from my research) as it makes sense to me, ie a sturdier based monopod...
-
Does one exist...? If so, I can't find it! Currently, based on a compromise of speed vs stability, I use a Sirui 204s monopod. It has decent...good stability even when not extended above it's 'closed up' height, but obviously, the taller it is extended and the heavier the load, the more unbalanced it becomes. Meanwhile, cranking up and down 3 legs, AKA a tripod is too slow for my use. Ideal would be a tripod style legs, but an extending monopod style pole, ie, increased stability at the base, but retaining the speed of the mono system for height. Anyone know of a manufacturer who makes such a thing or am I pissing into the wind, same as I am requiring the tech of the XT3 in an XH1 body with a GFX battery?
-
I personally don’t care about 6k but would care very much for an IBIS 4K 60p body. Make it an XH2 or XT4, I don’t mind either way but just make it. Ideally with the shutter from the XH1 and battery from the GFX medium format body. Thanks Fuji.

Thanks @xzobinx will take a look

The light is not what I am looking for, but one of these screwed to my XT3 SmallRig cage looks excellent! https://www.blindspotgear.com/power-junkie

Looks a good option thanks.

A few years back, I had the above named item on a lightweight stand due to the increasing amount of video work I was doing alongside my stills work. ie, didn’t want a strobe going off every 5 seconds. Why I sold it I cannot remember but for the last couple of years, I have been using a couple of cheap dimmable, but not directional LED’s. So I am looking to get another Ledzilla2 or equivalent but can’t find anything that comparable. If anyone knows of anything or can make any recommendations, I’d appreciate it.

4K DSLR with no jittery / stutter video ? (Canon vs Fuji vs Sony)

This thread reminds me of Monty Python's Cheese Shop sketch... -
Personally, I try not to go above 6400 or 3200 even and with an f1.8, even at some of the darkest stages of my weddings, that's not too hard to do. I do light stuff as much as I can however such as wedding speeches, 1 or 2 side/slightly angled small LED's on light stands to give the subject a bit more. LED's...at least the 20 euro one's from Godox I have don't throw out much light or very far unless it's properly dark and this is when they come into their own. Wish I hadn't sold my Dedo Ledzilla a few years back and will be getting another for next season as it was the perfect bit of kit for what I do Also, in lower light, an even stronger argument for using the baked in Eterna profile rather than faffing with HLG/Flog.
-
Tried all 3 and it really depends on how you work. If you go the whole monitor + LUT + heavy workflow, then Flog might work for you. More lightweight/minimalist + min workflow, the Eterna. HLG somewhere between but closer to the Flog approach. Me. I went Eterna and am more than happy with that for wedding work. More than.

Very nicely done!

OIS lens + manual fixed settings? That is how I roll with my XT3.
-
The official release confirms no IBIS and on that basis alone, it's not for me. Also, I believe they 'dumbed' it down from 10 bit to 8 internally and one of the appeals of the XT3 I currently use is 10 bit internally. I like it as a stills camera however and if I only shot stills, I think I'd almost certainly have got a pair.
-
I think for some, it’s worth it. I think it depends on the level of ‘seriousness’ of your production and the amount of time you have to spend. For professionals, amount of time vs costs/return. For me (Pro) it is very much the latter, ie, for what I charge, I can either produce some at X level for Y cost, but if I produce it to a level above X, then I need to either charge more (and risk booking less) or it comes out of my time. Like many, I have been chasing the next thing that will take my work to another level and part of that equation is the kit, but as above, with the current set up, in 2019, I finally have it and get to use it. It was never GAS, simply want/need and for most, that day should be now.
-
I quite like it, but then I liked the EM5ii's I used to have a few years back. I won't go to m4/3 for stills but for video I think it's OK. Well more than OK, - the GH5 and BMPC4K says so. But won't be getting one as I'm more than happy with what's coming out of my XT3. Good on Olympus for making it though and hope they continue as a company as I like them.
-
I should add that the current megapixel race bores me to tears as does talk of 6k, never mind 8k. Horses for courses and all that, but for me, 24/25mp for stills and 4k (or even 1080 actually) is more than good enough for my work and I'd rather focus on getting the most out of that, unless actually forced to upgrade.
-
What I'm curious about is where is the point that it is good enough and anymore isn't necessary for you ? For me, it’s Fuji XT3 internally, Eterna, 4K 50p. I don’t want or need any more. I have tried Flog & HLG but neither have given me anything quantifiably ‘more’ but just increase workload. So the pinnacle is right there for me...but with one massive caveat and that is no IBIS meaning I have to work off a monopod. Stick it in the XH1 body and there is my ‘dream’ camera right there. The End. Bring on the 50mm f1 in 2020 and wow. But as mentioned above, until then, compromise plays a part. So close, but not quite my Camera Conspiracies ‘perfect camera’ just yet...
