Do you guys find the cut page to be useful?
-
If you are tight on budget the sigma 17-50 2.8 is solid. Sigma 18-35 is better if you can afford it.
-
Your grade had awesome skin tone while his grade has worse skin than an over saturated Sony nex 5.

@androidlad how do you get all of this information for camera sensors? Honestly I don’t care about 6k. All I want is organic looking 4K downrezzed to a 1080p output. Really that’s all i need.
-
How do they manage to offer this software for free? Aren’t they losing a lot of money?
-
I can tell you from experience that 1080p always looks organic next to most hybrid cameras 4K. Every time I shoot 1080p on my g7 it looks more organic and filmic than 4K.

A couple of days ago I recorded a conference on the g7 in 4K 24fps with the unlimited recording hack. Firmware version was 2.2 and color of g7 is black. The camera successfully recorded close to 40 minutes of 4K video before the conference ended and I stopped recording. No overheating, and the camera was not hot. The files were successfully recorded, and when pieces together in DaVinci resolve I did not detect any dropped or skipped frames from one clip to another (the camera splits clips after a certain file size).

You are honestly right. Thank you for pointing that out. -

Why? -
That looks hideous. Worse than the deep dof on phones

If what you say is true than I have a black market a7siii with 8k 60p raw and 4K 60p 10 bit quad Bayer. I also have a canon eos r II with 12 bit 4K raw. Also the c200 is $1500 and magic lantern hacked the c100 to shoot 4K raw.

No it isn’t. It is still a solid camera, just like my g7 is.

I’ve thought about getting this camera instead of the Panasonic 12-35mm lens. Use it is around $400-450 vs the 12-35 being around $500-600. The crazy thing is the lens on the lx100 is better, and you get a free mini gh4 thrown in. I might buy this instead of buying a 12-35 for my g7 due to these reasons. This camera really is killer value. -
The only reason I’m considering this is because it’s the only way to use an external monitor while recording on the g7 outside of a $500 external recorder. My main gripe with this camera. While the g7 is great, I recommend the gx85 instead as it is the same price, But has IBIS and clean hdmi while recording.

Nice. How does it perform for your g7 @webrunner5?
-
How is it on the g7 for checking focus? Do the focus assists and edge sharpening work well? Also is it usable even though on the g7 since the internal screen turns off once recording?
-
The g7 does not allow for clean HDMI output. I do want to use an external monitor... i came across an app for iOS called FieldMonitor. It is based off of the same technology as in the Panasonic imaging app. It uses your phone as a wireless monitor. It has features like waveforms, false color, etc. has anyone used this app with a Panasonic camera? Is this a viable option as an external monitor?
-
True. Also I was on beta 7
-
I installed resolve 16 but didn’t really find much that I really cared about that was new (I don’t need the cut page) and the color page was dropping frames in 16 while playing at 24fps on 15. Long story short I am back on 15.3.1 as it is stable, well performing, and includes all of the features I want in a NLE.
-
Raw video and DPAF is very much appealing as long as it’s usable
-
Throw in tony northrup and some JR ALLI c i n e m a t i c luts and s p i c y cinema grade black bars.png and c a n o n color and you have the perfect monitization machine!

You sound like a YouTube trying to get canon to sponsor their 6d mark ii review
-
Yeah dpreview charts are one thing and real world results are another. For example on paper my g7’s DR is okay but in real life it really seems pretty good to me. The s1 v-log footage looks amazing, way better than a7iii or Nikon z6. No oversharpening, crazy DR and canon-level skin tones. It almost looks like an Alexa, and the image in my opinion is even better looking at the BMPCC4k.
