Apparently xt3 has amazing 120p. If you can live with micro for thirds gh5 has fabulous 1080p. It is oversampled up to 60p and still very nice at 120p. Also at a very nice 10 bit codec and the best ibis you’ve ever used. Again, only Micro 4/3 and lowlight sucks C100 II is so nice if you don’t need 4K. Basically perfect with everything you want. Beautiful, detailed, organic image, c-log that a two year old can grade and get good results, canon color, built in ND filter, dual xlr inputs with very high quality preamps, no overprocessing or over sharpening. If you don’t need 4K it is about as no compromising as it gets.

Let’s just say my favorite color is no longer RED
-
I don’t know why this takes so long. Would’ve been much easier if they have us DNG raw internal, but they want that $$ from brand deals
-
The e2c is a cheap version of the e2. It shoots 10 bit 4K and will eventually shoot raw for less than $1000. I kinda want one lol
-
It also restricts 1080p 30 and 60fps to 20 and 27 minutes. Weird. AVCHD still has no record limit for me. And 4K has no limit at 24 and 30fps.

Disappointing. It’s as if the raw announcement was marketing hype to gain sales. The z6 isn’t a bad camera but with the s1 being similarly priced to the z6+ninja v and the bmpcc4k being significantly cheaper, lots of people bought the camera probably because of the raw announcement. I feel bad for all of you who did so. Honestly they may never announce it.

Yes the idea behind a phone is it could also serve as an upgrade to my iPhone 5s while being a wide-angle b-cam. In the end then it would save me money and filmic pro log v2 does really good in terms of dynamic range. I know my bad My first posts had to be verified and the first g7 thread wasn’t verified my a moderator so I opened a second and here we are. I’ll keep it to one thread if you all want to move this discussion to the one with 5+pages.

I can confirm that the unlimited 4K recording hack works on the latest Panasonic g7 firmware. V 2.2

Yeah all-I only really is easier to work with on pc unless the Bitrate is vastly higher.

Panasonic S1 V-LOG -- New image quality king of the hill

There was space in the fs5 which had the same lens mount and same flange distance. It is totally possible. -

I don’t want 8k either. An internal nd and some form of 10 bit / raw would seal the deal. Unless it is $4000 and only records 8bit 4:2:0 internal and 10 bit 4:2:2 external. The gh4 was doing this in 2014 and can be had for $600 -
Mistake on my part about the different threads. Let’s keep all conversations here.
-
Sorry I should’ve kept it to one. Will do so in the future
-
Is it at a similar level to my g7? Cause similar quality but fantastic DPAF would be nice. I don’t use 4K nearly as much as I thought I would.
-
The tz100 would be neat. I could also put it in my pocket when I want to travel light. If I were to upgrade my g7 instead of buying a second camera, what would be a good upgrade? If it’s really good 1080 that is fine. I shoot 1080 on my g7 most of the time.
-
How is the 1080p compared to the sl2 or 70d? Is it really that bad?
-
The gx850 is a no go because they severely hampered it. It has an identical sensor to the g7 but they disabled manual video and any control over the picture profile settings. I can only afford to either upgrade my g7 or buy a b-cam, not do both.
-
Agreed. Especially if you only need 1080p. The quality is a lot better than previous low end canons and you get fantastic DPAF and canon colors. Part of me wants this over my g7 as I mainly shoot 1080p on it.
-
You must be getting good use out of it then
-
Yes, an external monitor is key for manual focusing. On my g7 I can’t use an external monitor while recording so I have to focus off of the tiny lcd screen. I end up missing focus a lot when i am outside because of how bright it is. It also doesn’t help that panasonic’s implementation of focus peaking is crap, and is barely effective unless you are shooting a super contrasts scene. Did you like the a7rii? Would you still recommend it for video?
-
Yeah the lx100 is appealing because the lens alone is better than the 12-35 2.8. Instead of buying that lens for my g7 I can get another camera thrown in for free! Seriously considering that or a Panasonic fz1000
-
A gh1 is $90 A phone with 4K 100mbps log is $0
-
And the canon 1dc is sub 3k and the c100 is $800 and 2.5k RAW video with the eos m is $120 These are crazy times to get into filmmaking. There really are no excuses other than laziness. Back in the day we dreamed to have what these cameras offered for $4000. Now we can get these features for $120. WHAT DA HECK!?
-
Yeah another g7 would be nice. Though the lx100 has a lens that is better than the Panasonic 12-35 2.8, so it’d be like getting a g7 and a free 12-35. I could just get a better camera like a g85 or Sony a6400 and reserve the g7 as a b-cam. Mayby I should just invest in better lenses, lights, etc, instead of a second camera. because I’m pretty new to this and don’t have a ton of gear. Thanks for the advice though, it really helped.
