  1. I don't think it's delayed until next year. I personally think it will be released in the fall.
  2. Yeah I agree. The discussion was on the video side and not for photography. What do you mean? "now as for R5 coming to olympics thats not gona happen" The Olympics are postponed until 20121. I think we have time now?
  3. Doesn't Nikon have enough revenue from other areas besides consumer cameras and glass? I actually like the Z6 over the EOS-R in a lot of ways. Mostly on the video side. I don't think it would be that difficult for Nikon to match the R5 specs if they wanted. They were the first to give us video RAW out and 10 bit out. It does seem very uncertain with Nikon so let's hope for the best. I did hear the R5 would be coming out at the Olympics (20202) but I couldn't get an answer about the new release date. The issue is with parts supply chain and shipping right now.
  4. Just passing on information that was given to me. If you didn't understand what was said it's simple, we would be seeing the R5 in action at the Olympics if they weren't delayed. What did your Canon contact tell you? Oh you don't have one. Make sure to hit the downvote button.
  5. My Canon source says the original plan was to release the R5 in time for the 2020 Olympics.
  6. How much is the RED Dragon Epic? The P6K is suppose to be a cine camera. Compare it to the 1DX III if you want a cheaper camera.
  7. We discussed RAW or QT and it was a file size choice since we were shooting multiple days. I won't do that again with P6K. It seemed like one was worse on one but IR pollution depends on how many stops and other shooting conditions.
  8. I hired out a production team for the two cameras (P6k's) IR pollution was on every single shot from both cameras that had ND's. So all shots except for 3.
  9. I don't know if the S1H would be better or not. With the next shoot I need to decide which gear to go with. If the budget is healthy enough and I need to focus on directing then I'll hire a DP.
  10. I do need and prefer RAW. I had used ProRes HQ 10bit and had enough latitude to work with. My budgets aren't super high. I try and make the best decisions possible. It's either rent cine gear or buy a P6K and rig it up.
  11. A.) We needed higher frame rates for some shots B.) Like I said before I always ask the DP what he prefers to shoot with C.) We had 2x P6K's with prime glass and steadicams. D.) I had used the same 2x P6k's and full-frame mirror-less before.
  12. I never said my workflow was reduced by 40% Can you reply to what I actually said?
  13. I'm not ready to invest in a bulky cine camera right now. I can rent what I need but that becomes an issue because it makes more sense to invest back into the company. If not Canon then what company is the best investment in 2020? I like the S1H and what Panasonic has done. I have doubts about the AF tracking. I do believe it's better and more relible than the reputation it has.
  14. I've been on real shoots with real clients using the P6K and a smaller AF, IBIS, RAW capable full frame mirror-less camera and the full frame mirror-less camera out performed the P6K every-time. It wasn't about color either. It was about getting the shot in action oriented scripted conditions. It's not a knock on the P6K but it is against manual cine cameras. They slow the process down by 40%. If the R5 lives up to the specs and can perform like Cinema B-cam like Canon says, then it will be a great camera. For $1,995 the P6K is an incredible camera.
  15. AAAANNDDD you didn't read my comment did you? Why are you so guick to pull the trigger and attack. I said "what you can pull off in a days shoot." Meaning you can capture more footage in a days time. A days time is a shoot day. More specific an 8 hour day with lunch and anything over ten hours is additional pay. With Canon's AF and IBIS, you will be able to capture more footage, more scripted shots, than you can with the P6K or P4K. Why? AF is faster than the missed A cam operator focus. IBIS on a gimbal gives you more freedom and lighter gear, which allows you to have steadier footage.
  16. You bring up valid points. IR pollution is an issue with Black Magic cameras. I've hired DP's that have worked on Netflix shows and Disney mega blockbusters. On my crew they were DP's and on the Netflix and Disney shows they were not. But they sill worked on my crew and I still directed them and hired them. @HockeyFan12 when he said you get a camera and play to it's strengths. Every-time I hire a DP I ask them what camera they prefer to work with. We work together based on the budget and we get the job done. Now, budget is key and what guys are used to working with on big budgets can't always happen on my sets. But the key is creating the best deliverable that we can. Old school DP's are having to learn new cameras or get left behind. The FS7 is not always practical and doesn't give the best image based on cost. I don't have an issue working with the P6K again but I'm going to have to do test. The R5 will be able to shoot RAW and have IBIS and Canon color with AF. This will destroy the P6k on set and what you can pull off in a days shoot.
  17. I used a high quality production company. Like I said before, this company has REDs and about a $500,000 in gear. They just moved over to the P6K after it's release and had the 4k before that. They produce awesome work and are not rookies. Depending on the job and budget Warner Bros. outsources work to production companies. Way to much assuming going on and back handed comments being made. What is woot mate?
  18. Can I see the work that you shoot in RAW? A link or website? Thanks @HockeyFan12
  19. It's real. If you use a ND filter with the P4 or 6k's you need a IR cut filter. It doesn't matter if it's stacked ND's or one ND you need a IR cut filter.
  20. They both had external monitors They were pulling focus all day long. I believe they had SmallHD's
  21. I searched the EOS after this happened and couldn't find very much discussion about it. It kinda seems like it's the 'let's don't talk about that issue" kinda thing.
  22. Yup. It was a WTF moment. I'm dealing with it to deliver the project on-time.
  23. And I work my ass off like everyone else on the EOSHD to make a living in the film, video, and photography industry.
  24. I trust the guys I used. They had never had the IR issue with those P6K's. They asked if Blackmagic knows about this issue and released the 6K this way.
