Viltrox seem to be great at tracking but for subjects moving in and out of frame you have abrupt focus transitions. The Fuji F2 line up is pretty good but there are a lot of random focus hunting issues. The 18-55 is actually the best lens I've used auto focus wise. Doesn't seem to hunt and tracks well. I've heard the OG Fuji 1.4 lenses are actually quite good, they just aren't as fast as newer lenses and are also a bit noisy.

The URSA G2 version works with Gen 4 and Gen 5 color science. So it will work on the URSA mini pro G1. It will also work on the older URSA mini 4.6k, as long as you shoot in RAW so you can set it to Gen 4 color science. The Zcam M4 sensor is quite a bit different so the S6 lut is going to not be very accurate on the M4. I usually over expose 1 or 2 stops and bring it down in post using the Exposure correction luts.

Z-cam was an example because they are a smaller company. BRAW is the best fake RAW format out there due to its ability to work in an NLE. Although its still great having internal RAW on the Z-cam. Transcode to prores 444 and you have a ton of information in an easy to work with codec. Huge files though. I'd assume Panasonic hasn't done it as the cost/reward isn't good enough. Any kind of 12 bit or prores 444 would be welcome as internal recording though.

They should just create a compressed RAW codec. Z-cam did it why can't Panasonic.

This would be an instant buy. Hope its true! I have no use for 8k but 4k 180p absolutely. Internal ND's also absolutely. Hopefully its a 10 stop ND. Thats considering this is in anyway true lol. Panasonic has the best image in the sub 10k category IMO.

I'll probably buy if it has S1 like dynamic range. 4k 120p is a great addition. Low light will probably suck. If it has a good 3200 iso I am definitely down.
-
Interesting, what about for HD or 24p 4k?

If Fuji didn’t have record limits I’d buy one again. They are great stills cams and the video is good enough to be a B cam to my S1. My complaints with Fuji is their processing is more artificial compared to Panasonic full frame. The IBIS isn’t as good. And they have the damn record limits even in HD.

Yeah I wish he had a wider variety of cameras. I sent him my Z-cam, which I no longer own a while back. He's still working on getting out the LUT for it. Understandable as its a tedious process and I doubt he makes a lot from it. I definitely get the push past 2k for VFX, however a lot of stuff is using minimal VFX and they are still shooting on 4k or 6k cameras like the LF. I meant the OG Alexa mini not the Mini LF, when I said it will lose demand in 10 years, like the Alexa Classic has. I am not sure where the Alexa LF will be in 10 years, it will definitely produce gorgeous imagery but the original Alexa Classic is still producing absolutely amazing imagery. Hard to say I guess. You'd hope a 60,000 investment is still good in 10 years.

If a client has the money to be that refined they will also be hiring a production company that is bringing in heaps of lighting, which would be used regardless of what camera was being used, reducing the necessity of dynamic range. Even watching the Wandering DP's videos where he breaks down commercials(usually shot on the Alexa LF). He has pointed out how you always frame the sun out of the shot. I do think color is very important which is what really sets the Alexa apart from everything else image wise that is. When you aren't paying big bucks no one really cares, or they can't afford to at least. The Alexa Classic is in the 6k range, affordable. I saw one for a bit over 4k recently. The 14 pound payload has kept me away though. Combined with the fact that big clients will want at least the Alexa mini. Even if the image quality is stellar the industry has moved on to bigger and better things. The Alexa mini LF is the big boy on campus now. Using the Pana S1 and emotive colors Alexa luts is good enough for what I do. Gets me strikingly close to an Alexa without paying the premium or carrying the weight lol. I'll definitely buy the Alexa mini in 10 years when it gets down to 5k, or whatever the dollar equivalent to 5k is in 10 years. 😪 Of course the Alexa mini in 10 years won't be worth much salt to clients. I love the idea of using minimal lighting and minimal gear. You can get really nice stuff with an Alexa and just natural lighting. But no client wants to see that. Looks cheap. I do recall a show where they shot with the Alexa and all natural lighting(or mostly natural). Don't recall the name of it. Of course there is the revenant.

Scammed on eBay as a seller and then - scammed by eBay customer services!

I've had good luck with camera gear in general, but I guess its a bit more specialized so you have less idiots. Not that you can't get screwed selling anything. Ebay sucks -
How are you liking the image?

There's no real demand for 14 stops of dynamic range. Big productions that need it have it and those who can't afford don't. Clients paying $500 for a video don't care about dynamic range. The other half is of course brand recognition. Many clients don't even know what dynamic range is but they'll know what Arri or RED is. If you shot something on any decent hybrid they'd not know the difference if they weren't on set to see that you were using $2000 stills camera.

Mine are some random brand called BM Premium, work well for me. Aftermarket batteries can definitely be hit or miss tho
-
Weird never had an issue on my S1. Batteries last forever.
-
Probably not 20 stops of dynamic range but even if it's only 1 or 2 stops more than the C300 MK3 or C500 MK2 that would be incredible, as those are already leading in class. Sounds like a great line up though.
-
Its a nice camera, if you can get it for a good price used. Would definitely not pay $5000-$6000 for it. Only thing lacking is continuous auto focus.
-
Yeah I never use AF for interviews. I assume its useful for very shallow DOF shots on close ups.

The XLR adapter for the Pana has taken care of the Audio needs for me. Can't get around having no internal ND filters though. Definitely great to have.

I was thinking on jumping ship to Canon but my Pana S1 continues to surprise me time and time again. Really hoping Pana puts out another Cine cam as the EVA1 doesn't really do it for me anymore. Tired of matching other cameras to my S1 rather it be Canon or RED or Sony.

The S1R does have 10 bit 4k tho, not bad for video TBH

XT4 and XT3 are the same IQ wise. Having owned both the S1 and XT3, I can say the S1 dynamic range is better, better in high ISO's. The image is more natural than the XT3, less sharpening and less noise reduction going on. I like the Fuji color presets a lot. If you are shooting in LOG you kind of lose that edge, as the color on Fuji log isn't particularly easy to work with. Eterna is really nice though. Fujis HD 120fps is better than Panasonics.
