My Pana 8-18 on GH5 in 4K become 16-36mm I thought the extra raw crop would add to the normal 2x crop. These crops don't fit in my head 🙂

For narrative shots I use a lot the 12-35mm in a 6" dome port. For ambient wide angle shots I use the 7-14mm or 8-18mm on the wide end. Rule #1 underwater is to reduce water/distance. The most useful combo is the (vintage) Pana 14-42mm with a special wet lens which converts the lens FOV from 75°-29° to 130°-50° and it focus basically on the lens. With this extra crop everything becomes too narrow.

So my 8-18m @ 8mm become 22.3mm. Hummm this is a deal breaker for wide angle underwater use...

No but I don't criticize it. I think it is impossible to judge cameras by videos. This is a bias that was born on social media and will never die. I have never heard about a film that it would have come out differently if they had used one camera or another and yet this BS on social never dies. The videos say more about the skill of the author than the camera. I would like to see Roger Deakins with a GH2.... 😉

Guys forgive me for insisting on this raw thing. Tell me where I am wrong. I am here to learn. In M43 I have a crop of about 2x due to the ratio of the FF sensor to the M43 sensor. When I shoot in Prores or H265, the camera uses the whole horizontal part of the sensor and then scales the image to C4K or UHD resolution. When I shoot in Raw the camera uses exactly the pixels needed to get the desired resolution otherwise it would not be raw. I did not understand if in the two options the camera changes the crop factor of the lens. Thank you in advance

I liked but what's in there can't be obtained with the GH5? I see a nice but pretty heavy color grading.

Out of curiosity, I was reading this on ARRI website: https://www.arri.com/en/learn-help/learn-help-camera-system/image-science/log-c I'm newbie about RAW. Does it mean that LogC3 from GH7 not being ARRIRAW cannot take advantage of the mentioned workflow?

Panasonic proved to have the best body and thermal design in the market. Just remember that Gh4 (unlimited 4K had the same GH3 body (1080p). And we are still getting Sony cameras that heats like an oven... Gh7 appears to have exactly the same GH6 body that is good to me.

On my GH5 for underwater work I'm stuck with the old mediocre 14-42mm. The best current underwater wet lenses were developed around 28mm FF so the only compatible M43 lens is the 14-42mm...

I imagine some sort of enhanced battery grip with audio part embedded. Something like the old GH4 battery grip with xlr input or... an updated audio input of the current gh5 one.

Don't Pana and BM have an agreement for M43 format and also L mount? Couldn't it be BRaw? Pana has its raw format on varicams but I don't think it is compressed, right?

Reading the news about June 5 and putting the whole S9 Gerald Undone Special Edition drama in perspective, I am left with the only real big curiosity: why they decided to introduce S9 at the last moment. What accident did they have? Because it is clear that they did not have a ready lens for the presentation. The 26mm/F8 pancake is a joke. Or was it all prepared?

Good catch indeed! What about from the standpoint of pure image? Is the C70 comparable to the K-X? I didn't want to use the word cinematic 😉 Yes, when run&gun meets cinematography

Ergonomics apart, how do you compare images from the two cameras? My friend was torn between the C70 and the R5C (For underwater and narrative use). Each ticked off several items on his checklist. The choice was so difficult that in the end he did not take either 🙂 Now both cameras are quite dated (not from specs pov) and a new version is around the corner so better to wait for both new and used.
