Nikon should've offered it to BM from the start. Even paid BM to use it. The amount they'd make in lens sales would be so worth it. And like you said: no one buying a BM would be considering a Nikon instead. Zero loss in potential sales. But Nikon's management aren't exactly creative thinkers.

Panasonic seem to have shut down the cinema division behind these cameras
-
That's mental. I've never heard of anyone doing that before.
-
Are you doing stills and video at the same time?
-
Nah I never noticed much difference shooting my G lenses with the adapter vs the Z lenses
-
the rear screen is easily one of the best things about the z8. wish every youtuber asking for flip out screens would just fuck off.
-
Oh nice. I probably should've clarified I meant the D/G series. The AIS are a whole other vibe. I recently got the 50mm 1.8 AIS, but I almost wish I'd gone for the 1.2. Haven't seen many comparisons between them though.
-
Good move. Most of the F mounts are really good. I'd just look at a 3rd party option for the 50mm. Nikon's F mount 50mm was never as good as their other lenses.

I have the 24 and 50 S primes and they're incredible. Absolute bargain prices when you see the optical quality. I got the 28-75 (rebadged tamron) too. You can tell the difference. It's fine, it's a good zoom. But it's missing the magic of the Nikkors.

This is competing against the R5 and A7RV, but in Australia those cameras are available for at least $1500 less

Flog2 has an identical gamma curve to Arri Clog3, and the colour space is rec2020. So yeah it probably is one of the best log profiles around. Especially considering the support, and knowledge for Arri footage in the cinema & high end commercial space.

What's the benefit of the Z9/ Z8 for video over the Canon R5. I don't know enough about the canon, but I thought it was meant to be a good video hybrid?
-
Flip out screens suck, but at least you don't have to flip the monitor out when you've got an external monitor. Honestly for a camera I'm using for video I'd rather have no screen if it's going to be shitty 3" one. I'd rather they made it cheaper and just put a rear mounted v-mount or np-f mount there instead.

This is going to be tough. I'm ready to upgrade my z6, and I want better video (at least internal 10bit log) so I can grade it to match the xh2s. And I'd like a step up in AF and MP. But I don't need 45mp, or 20fps, or even 8k, and don't want to spend that much on a camera. But it doesn't look like there's any z6iii coming in the next 12 months.
-
I'd like to see a new log profile, apparently the current one is not as good as what the Z9 should be able to do
-
I've still been using Nikon for stills. Their new Z primes are incredible.
-
It's cool, and good to know. But I'd never get or use one unless there was a specific shot I needed that I couldn't get with any other camera I have.
-
No one should choose 8bit for anything ever
-
Hopefully they release something this year before the competition catches up to the xh2s sensor Fuji also has a lot of meeting room space booked at NAB. Would love to be a fly on the wall there.

Comparing the Canon EOS R7, R10, Fuji X-H2 & Panasonic S5 II
D Verco replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Complaining about the Fuji image being too sharp is the dumbest thing I've heard honestly. It hasn't got over sharpening artefacts like DJI's image. Like Django has said, it's more a result of the design of the camera (no olpf, etc). Having more dynamic range than anyone else also helps make an image look sharper because of the latitude you get in post. It's also the direction imagery is going. Lenses are getting sharper, cameras are getting higher res, autofocus is getting more accurate. In a few years other cameras available today are going to be considered too soft. But even if you still think it's sharp - it's got to be the easiest thing to change if you wanted. Use soft lenses, add softening filters, remove some clarity, mid-contrast, and sharpness in post. -
It's actually pretty genius that Fuji used arri c-log and rec2020 standards with Flog-2

What are you going to be shooting?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/65ye9cnygs07gu0/AACXz9IPrvgmH_knwcX4_avQa?dl=0 I'd recommend the Gafpa Gear luts for Arri log conversion and a 250D lut.

Also internal Flog2 will always have more dynamic range than the raw options because it's coming from a 14bit readout
