  1. I just finished my new anamorphic wildlife video. I filmed for three days over the last few months on St. Vincent Island Wildlife Refuge. A very unique and beautiful place. So before you and I get lost in Starwars, The Revenant and The Hateful Eight, please sit back relax and take a journey through this wild island with me. Technical: Filmed on a Panasonic GH4 in 4k Bolex 16/32 1.5x anamorphic lens with Voigtländer 25mm F0.95, Voigtländer 42.5mm F0.95 and Takumar SMC 135mm F2.5 V2 as taking lens. I shot in anamorphic 4:3 mode on GH4.
  2. I don't know if this has been posted before, but here's Mauri Galiano's very nice test which compares the GH4's various aspect ratios in 4k "Photo" mode using a Bolex 16/32 1.5x, an Isco 1.7x and a 2x Proskar. This sealed my decision to finally pull the trigger on a GH4. The only limitation I see right now is it's only in 30p and 25p. Apparently someone within Panasonic is pushing hard for 24p. Otherwise the GH4 (except low light) is an embarrsment of riches. eris
  3. Hi everybody, I am new to this great community, I have read the anamorphic guide , read about the different kinds of anamorphics lenses and adapters, I already have an EIKI 16C 2X to play with...it is ok but 2x seems to be too much for my liking, I know I can crop but I don't want to do that... I have a GH3 with speedbooster, sigma 18-35 f1.8 (Nikon mount) some nikkor manual lenses 50mm 135mm, helios 44-2 58mm, 35mm pentax manual lenses, and some native m43 lenses. I do not do any professional work, ....I know iscoramas and lomo square front are the best but out of my league, too expensive, all my search ended in two adapters: 1) the brand new slr magic anamorphot 1.33x + diopters $1,100.00 pros: brand new, sharp, flares ok, focus trough it? cons: too clinic for some people, resale value? 2) used bolex anamorphot 8/16/1.5x....$700~$1000 pros: great organic look (film look), resale value, close focus without diopters. cons: used, dual focus, I have never played with any of this two, that's why I am here asking for help to all of you who have/had this adapters.. what would you suggest? thank you in advance for your time and knowledge
  4. A trailer for an upcoming feature film I wrote and co-directed. We shot the movie on a C300 using the 16/32/1.5x Bolex Moller anamorphic adapter lens. Many thanks to the people on this forum for helping me figure out the logistics of this during pre-production! YouTube Link

  6. Besides being a regular member, I've already sold more than a few lenses in this forum and in DVXUser. Since I'm from Brazil, eBay isn't a good option for me, and people really don't dig into anamorphics here. Once again, I have more lenses than I can use, and decided to let them go. Check out the description, price and pictures below. I only accept PayPal. Taxes and shipping are my responsibility. :) If interested, send me a PM, or an email! ferradans@gmail.com   1 - Panasonic LA7200 + Custom Front with 105mm thread + Redstan Clamp. (1.33x stretch, focus through) I've modded this one hard, to fit every need. Now I'm moving towards LOMOs and would be sad to let this baby in the locker, gathering dust. I've machined a custom front for it, creating 105mm filter threads for attaching big diopters - which are somewhat hard to come across.   The glass is in perfect condition, no haze, fungus, scratches or chips this time. Rear thread is secured with Redstan's clamp, with 67mm threads, closest pairing possible with the taking lens. I'm including front and rear caps - not the original ones - and the original lens pouch.   As everyone already knows, it's focus through, allows you to rack focus on the taking lens and go extra wide-angle at the same time. Has some problems regarding corner sharpness, but I think it's awesome.   I'm including in this kit a custom-made filter holder for 4.5" diopters, and three of these: +0.5, +1 and +2, Tiffen, in perfect shape. This way, you won't need anything else in order to start shooting with this lens, even at the widest lenses and apertures. This size of glass is very hard to find, and this adapter doesn't even have a copy. Single unit! US$1450 shipped (LA7200 + redstan clamp + front clamp with 105mm threads + custom adapter 105mm to 4.5" + Diopter kit (+0.5, +1 and +2) LA7200 photos http://www.eoshd.com/comments/gallery/album/85-panasonic-ag-la7200-clamps/

  8. I'm looking for the 16mm version of the Bolex Moller anamorphot adapter in very good to excellent condition if anyone is interested in selling.  Please let me know.  Thank you.
  9. I recently shot a teaser video for a feature film I'm developing. I'm aiming for a slightly analog look so I've been using AIS Nikkor lenses with the Bolex Moller 16/32/1.5x adapter lens mounted to them. The Bolex has a 39mm filter thread on the back, so I'm able to attach it with a simple 39mm to 52mm ring. However, the only way I can align the anamorphic lens with this adapter is by keeping the filter thread screwed slightly loose, and rotating it to the right alignment, then sticking it in place with a thin strip of tape.   This works alright, but I'd like to figure out something more stable for purpose of a feature film. I've looked fairly extensively at the clamps available online, but I can't find anything (Redstan or otherwise) that is specifically tailored to fit the somewhat atypically shallow rear element of this lens, and I wondered if anybody else has had experience with this? I just need a solution that won't add a very substantial amount of length/vignetting to the lens, and will allow me to lock its alignment down. The tape solution results in slight, noticeable shifting around every time we refocus the lens.   Thank you!   Here's the teaser, shot it on an NEX-5n with the aforementioned lenses. Looking into filming the feature on a C300 or a Scarlet.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgqLqHZk3-A
  10. I'm trying to figure out theoretically what the widest lens I can use with the new Blackmagic Pocket camera AND a Bolex 8/19/1.5 anamorphot. Would the Voigtlander 17.5mm work? How about the 24? (EDIT: meant the 25) Thanks for any input.
  11. Been working on this one for quite some time...  Just in time for the premiere for season 3 tonight, my Game of Thrones spoof, "Winter is Coming."   Shot on hacked GH2 with a Bolex anamorphic.  Mounted with an awesome clamp by Redstan  (seriously, top-notch stuff.  Well worth the wait/cash.)   Taking lenses were Nikon 35 f2.8, Konica 40 1.7, Nikon 50 1.2, and Super Tak 135.   Color by Shian Storm's ColorGhear, my first attempt, so be gentle!   Shot at numerous locations over the last few months, including a re-shoot for the band sequences as I couldn't' stand how the first set turned out.  (hated the background.)  We also got very, very lucky with the weather for the outdoor battle scene. Considering we had no budget at all,   I was shocked by how many people showed up for that  shoot!  Enjoy!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQeazQ0eohQ
  12. Hello all.     I was curious if anyone has tested the Bolex 8/19/1.5X Anamorphot with a Canon 5D mark III.  Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've only found evidence of the lens paired with the GH2, 7D and BMCC.  Many thanks in advance for any help on this topic.
  13. Hello! I'm searching for the Iscorama focusable anamorphic 1.5x adapter. Is anyone have any suggestion now? Also I like Bolex Moller 16\35 1.5x. Wait for your answers! Thanks!
  14. Hey all, Finally scored a Bolex 8/19/1.5 anamorphic lens, and I'm curious as to my mounting options. Hopefully, someone who has one of these can clue me in. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -0z-
