  1. I have 1 canon c100 mark I . the first version not the Mark II. I need an easy go to solution besides a clapper board to sync up the audio and video. I am aware of the Free Run setting and the time code setting to get both the cameras to have the same time while shooting but it is still also of prep and setting to get that to work. There has to be an easier way to lock in the audio and video from 2 CV's . if it is a cinema line EOS camera there should be a simple way of doing it with a 100% fail proof method to make sure the 24,29 or 23 Fps MXF,AVI and so forth can sync up. I would like to know if there is a trick to this without having to spend money on an ATOMAS NINJA or pro res external recorder and even that I don't think can do what I need. I am aware of plural eyes plugin for various video editing software but i would like to have it all synced up so no work is needed in post in order to keep 2 camera multi shoot interview in audio video sync all the way to the very end . Also is there a very precise method more so than a clapper board to sync up the audio and video in a multi camera shoot with the CANON C100 mark I? because even with a clapper board you have to pay close attention to the video clips in post cause they can get out of sync by seconds i am hearing. Please someone does anybody have a solution? I realize a canon c300 or above will allow me an easy precise automated audio video sync however I am wondering only about having another Canon C100 along the 1 Single Canon C100 Mark, I currently own Any advice would be somewhat of a relief.

Now I know it's not a popular camera body for many valid reasons, and that it may be away from the budget of many casual film-makers, but I've been using the C100 a lot recently, and wondered if anyone had any tips to swap. I've also been programming some custom picture styles for this and C300 based on highly gradable modern film stocks. If anyone is interested in such a discussion let's get stuck in!   5. Hey there, I wanted to share my first test with my SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter and see if anyone else is using this adapter and what lenses they've found work well. Specifically for EF mount. I shot this with a Canon C100 using the Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens, which worked beautifully. I'm looking to find other lenses that will work well which I've had little luck. I think it works best with lenses that have a narrow front lens element. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Here is the video:
  6. So I run a small film company, Lightworks Films, and we have done a few reviews on the Canon 5d Mark III and the C100 (here is one of my reviews). I am really interested in purchasing a Sony a7s, and to my eyes (online) the camera looks better than the C100 - can anyone with both cameras comment? Or anyone who has used both? I am specifically referring to resolution - not 4k, but how well the a7s resolves 1080 compared to the c100 at 1080. Thanks for your thoughts!
  7. Hi guys Ive been trying to combine c100 footage which is crisp next to 5d footage with 85L which is beautiful and doffy but not very sharp. I tried to embrace that difference by having the crop bars mainly on the c100 footage. What I would like to try in the future tho, so i dont have to change cameras. Is using the letus anamorphx adapter on the 85L (or even the sigma 18-35) to widen up that field of view which starts to bridge the gap of field of view and dof you get on the full frame what do you guys think? cheers Phil Wittmer philwittmer.com Sydney Wedding Videos

    A7S the Killer

    I, like everyone else saw the Sony A7S videos, and was completely blown away. While it is superb strategy for Sony to COMPLETELY handicap the camera, despite its insane potential. I believe Sony will introduce this sensor in its 'F' range as well as 'FS' range of cameras, which will see its full potential. While the GH4 sensor is nowhere in the league of the A7S's, Panasonic has not purposely handicap its potential to 1/10th, to make way for its professional range, which is both respectable, as well as sensible. Right now, the A7S is something that could have killed the entire 'C' range of Canon (C100, C300 and C500), as well as many other cameras which use the small form factor. I am quite unsure of why this ridiculously unfriendly anti-workflow monster has been created. I think Sony needs to seriously re-consider undoing the handicaps.

It was a really nice experience to work with Canon C100. I pushed the ISO up to 4000 because i wanted to see how much noise will be generated. Of course there is some grain in the picture but the low light ability of the Canon C100 is still amazing. Working with the Compact Prime Lenses was uncomplicated. The Magnifier Button, which operates also during recording is an amazing tool. The form factor of the C100 is very handy and you are able to make your shots in a quick and comfortable way.

I know this line of thought is going to sound dumb and woefully redundant (and maybe provocative) but after all I've read (and invested), I'm still struggling to see the overall advantages to shooting a 5D3 raw over a C100 in a production environment (specifically: regional commercial retail and fashion). What am I missing? Is it the full frame sensor? A cost savings of a couple grand? The way I see it, $6-$8K for a camera is NOTHING for a business or even an independent contractor. Then again, I don't want to waste money if the hacked 5D3 can do the heavy lifting in a production environment. We can all point to "tests" and all kinds of numbers. But seriously guys, look at what the C100 is putting out in skilled hands: What's the real argument for a hacked 5D3 over THAT??? This is the kind of work we aspire to do in 2014. The sample here is all on a C100, right to the card. Why would anyone opt for a 5D3 Raw for that kind of work? For the 60p in 720? Being able to suddenly be a still photographer? I don't know. So here I am asking y'all. Any input on this from working videographers would be great. Thanks.
  11. I've had the Black Magic Cinema Camera (EF version) since April, coming from a hacked GH2. I kind of jumped on the BMCC fanboy bandwagon and jumped into the camera without really studying other options at the time. It's capable of some pretty great images, but overall, I just don't like the camera. It stinks for any type of handheld shooting, the crop factor is a pain to deal with, pretty much every hard drive I own is full of RAW footage even though I try to delete what I'm not using, and it takes a ton of time just to grade a shot to get it to look "normal" and sync audio from my external recorder. No built in ND's (coupled with a native ISO of 800), lack of changeable battery, and poor audio with no audio meters is annoying as well. Like I said, the image quality can be great, but it is just no fun to shoot with and there is so much not to like about the camera. Sometimes I like to just pick up my camera and shoot something, but with the BMCC, this is really impractical. I'm not a professional, just an amateur/enthusiast obsessed with great video quality. I'm primarily looking for something that has a large sensor and can produce sharp, detailed images with minimal noise. I'd like something good for narrative with the bonus of having something I can run and gun with if I want to. I can hold my own with basic color grading, but I'm by no means highly skilled at it, so I feel I wouldn't lose too much if I no longer had RAW. I've narrowed my options to either selling the BMCC and buying a C100 or FS100, or sucking it up and keeping the BMCC. As for price I feel they are all somewhat similar. If I keep the BMCC I need to still buy ND's, a battery solution, a better rig for handheld, a wider lens, and probably some type of storage array for all this footage I'm amassing. For the FS100 I'd need to add the Speed Booster and ND's to get it up to the C100 configuration. For the C100, I'd probably pick up an Atomos recorder at some point in the future. For the FS100 I'd be shooting only with the Speed Booster as I have only EF glass. From what I've read it seems like the C100 should be an easy choice over the FS100, but I feel like the FS100 looks much more cinematic (maybe it's just that I've stumbled upon videos made by FS100 users with better skills than the C100 users? Or maybe it's just because the FS100 has been out longer?). Honestly all of these very cinematic pieces shot with the FS100 are pretty much the only reason it's on my radar as otherwise I believe the C100 to be superior. Any advice from people who have shot with either camera would be much appreciated. Is the C100 just as good or better than the FS100 when it comes to image quality? C100 Concerns: -Possibly not as cinematic as the FS100 FS100 Concerns: -Would only be shooting with the Speed Booster (bugs/issues/etc. with this?) -It's a couple year old camera, so I'd probably be disappointed if Sony released a replacement shortly after I bought one -No ND's -Form factor not as much to my liking as the C100
  12. About 3 months ago, my grandmother told me some of the tactics being tossed at women by the democratic party to be used to deter an attacker... All of these of course, are to substitute a firearm. They are as follows: 1. Tell the attacker you have a venereal disease. 2. Blow your rape whistle. 3. Defecate on yourself.. (... this is legit.) and if all else fails: 4. Vomit on the attacker, and he will let you go. Since I know not one single woman on the face of the earth who can do 3 and 4 on command, I suspect this did not go over so well with the female response.   13. I wanted to share my first film shot on the Canon C100 Cinema Cam. I shot the whole thing in one weekend for a 48 Hour Film Festival using only 3 Zeiss ZE lenses: 15mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.4. 90% of it ended up on the 35mm. Amazing Lens!   I really liked the look of the C100 with the Zeisses. We shot, not in C-Log, but  the "High Dynamic Range" profile. Feels very filmic to me. (Some shots more than others.) Also, the C100 was a breeze to shoot on for a 48 hour festival. Adaptable to all 5 of our locations within seconds and post-production was cake.
