I've just picked up a new Sony A5100 (for US$330, a great Black Friday deal!) and want to use my Nikon F mount lenses on it. What is the best Metabones focal reducer clone for Nikon G to Sony E mount? Is it the Mitakon Lens Turbo II? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mitakon-Lens-Turbo-Focal-II-Reducer-Adapter-Nikon-F-ai-s-Sony-NEX-VG-camera-/171320696417 Or would the much cheaper jinfinance be just as good? http://www.ebay.com/itm/new-Nikon-F-G-focal-reducer-speed-booster-adapter-to-Sony-NEX-5-6-7-FS700-FS100-/360707999952

Hey guys! At the moment I shoot weddings with a 6D and 5D2. Both of these are manned cameras, and I usually leave the NEX5N on sticks as safe shot. However, given the 1080p50 mode that the Canons lack, I would like to start incorporating it more into my workflow, especially for steadicam shots. Up till now, I've been shooting in Portrait (creative style) at -3,0,-3. I just wanted to check if anyone of you is using it with Canon DSLRs and what settings work best to get the look as close as possible? I'm shooting in Neutral Flat on the Canons.

Don't know if you guys read this about a new adapter from Metabones: http://www.metabones.com/info/105-info/180-metabones-introduces-third-generation-smart-adapter

Went out last night and had an amazing time at a place called Bungalow in Santa Monica. Brought my NEX-5n with an old Nikon 50mm f1.4 AIS lens and the Metabones Speed Booster. It was DARK in that place, but the Speed Booster made me feel invincible. https://vimeo.com/60971352

This problem is rather hard to describe. Just trying to figure out if I have a defective unit, or if this is common to all NEX-5n's. Here's a video sample. Read my comments to know what to look for. Please let me know if you've had the same issues. https://vimeo.com/59504237

Hi, just wanted to start a topic about using 3rd party lenses with the Metabones Speed Booster. Their website warns about the possibility of some lenses having protruding rear elements that could scratch the adapter or short out the electrical connections. I don't yet own any EF lenses, so I'm currently using a Rainbow Imaging Nikon to EF adapter. The lenses I've tried with this are: - 50mm f/1.8 pancake (all manual) - 24mm f/2 AIS (all manual) Camera is a Sony NEX-5n. After my first day of trials, this combo works fine. My caveats so far: - The Nikon adapter tends to stick to the lens, requiring a manual depress of the delicate release lever in order to unscrew it from the lens. So I'm just buying another Rainbow Imaging adapter and plan on leaving it on the lens all the time. - The lens focuses a bit past infinity. Other than that, I'm really enjoying the Speed Booster and see no image degradation. Will be posting sample videos soon. Anyone else tried other lenses?

My question is about mixing footage specifically from Sony to Panasonic (or secondly Canon) cameras. In my experience each company has a color profile, and within a brand cameras tend to match decently out of the box. I am a Sony owner of an NX5U video camera and have had experience mixing footage with Canon videocameras and DSLRs. The colors do not match perfectly, but for my wedding clients it is passable. Does anyone have knowledge of how well pana + sony might mix? I'm wondering specifically how well the Sony NX5U might match with a panasoinc GH2/3 (used as a b-cam)? I'm considering purchasing either a Sony NEX series (NEX 6) or a GH2/3. But I don't want to have to color correct all my footage to match with my workhorse NX5U. Thanks, .David

[background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] I have succumbed and have an RX100 coming this week to be my B camera to my Sony Nex 5N![/background][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] I ideally want to shoot footage on the RX100 to look identical to that of the 5N so if I was to use both at a function I could easily mix in footage from both cameras to create a final piece.[/background][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] The constant question marks over shutter speeds at 50p on both cameras is also bothering me. I shot some footage at 50p 1/50 to see if the footage would be useable both in slow motion in a 25p timeline and also at normal speed in a 25p timeline. In both cases I was not too happy with the motion blur, It just does not look as good as shooting either natively at 25p at 1/50 or 50p 1/100 for slow mo in a 25p timeline.[/background][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] Based on the above I think you have to make a decision before you shoot any footage at 50p that is to be used in a 25p timeline. That decision is to whether your footage is going to be slowed down in post or not. Based on this answer you can then decide to shoot 50p at 1/100 for slow mo or 1/50 for nornal speed..although like I said I still think 1/50 shutter at 50p at normal speed in a 25p timeline still does not like as good as shooting natively at 25p on the camera (which you cannot obviously do on the RX100, but you can on the 5N)[/background][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] I will always be putting any footage I shoot in a 25p line so that is the only constant I am sticking with…its how I merge the footage from both cameras and get the best settings on both to deliver the best output….that is my main concern and caveat at this stage.[/background][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] With all this in mind I think I might choose to use my NEX 5N for 25p 1/50 footage and my RX100 for 50p 1/100 slow mo footage exclusively.[/background][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)] If anyone can give any sage help and advice on this I would greatly appreciate it.[/background]

Hi, My English is far from good, so bear with me, sorry. Just call me "Foggy" <edited.> I'm a full time designer and hobbyist photographer from Vietnam. I'm not making any gears for camera before, but I'm experienced with modding, building parts for RC helicopters and boats: plastic, carbon, composite, alu, steel, etc... with my friend, who is an engineer. Recently, I see a large demand of Nex housing and cage, especially when the new hack available. What I trying to build here is an aloy housing for nex5n:

Full body housing.
Aloy (aircraft grade, hardened, anodize black) - precision CNC from a block.
I want it look like a RED camera body from outside.
Silent cooling fans with fan speed control, maybe dust filter to block dust and noise too.
All button accessible, some may under button extender build in the housing.
Ports available and have lock to keep cord in place.
Can mount on rail system or fluid head, and also can mount a lot of stuff on it.
Quick release and lock the body in place.
What I want to hear from you:

Which camera I should focus on first: Nex 5N, Nex 7, or waiting for 5F, 6 or anything else like GH2, GH3?
Most of you prefer cage or housing?
Include plate and mount for rail system or not? Modular or just screw hole so you can mount yours on?
Battery for fans: Canon battery or Eneloop or anything else?
You guys will put functional first, or the look (to please clients) first or balancing between them?
What you dont like about current products available on market right now?
Quality of finish product will be at level can hold up against ReWo products - at least with what I see via photo, I'm not seeing it in real life, but I can sure RC helicopters part quality is not far behind, maybe even better in models using gasoline. Don't suggest me cloning ReWo's cage or Richard's housing, of course all previous products on market give me insipration and design clue, and I learning a lot from them. I can build one myself with feature you demands, but I'm not doing clone. Price: I can not promise anything at this stage, but housing will be around 800-900 usd, cage will be around 400-500, I will try to keep cost down without cutting quality, but I will not run down to "mass produced in china" level. I willing to work on mattbox, follow focus and many things, but let just start with this housing project first. Thanks for reading.
