  2. “You find yourself at a sex party. This is not a fun surprise. What is this place? Why can’t you just go home?†Watch the film here! 'Black And White' is a nail-biting, ultra unnerving morality tale about a man that finds himself stuck at a sex party in the middle of the country. It’s about the horror of moral collapse and how people act when no one is watching. It could be one of the most intense clips you watch all year! Shot entirely on a Nikon D800 DSLR. Buckle yourself in! Richard Williamson Writer.Director www.richardwilliamsonfilms.com *My last two films screened at a host of international festivals and won awards in the USA. This newest work is releasing immediately online.

https://vimeo.com/75015701     Hey! This is my latest video.   The footage is going to be part of a music video that i'm directing.   Shot with Nikon D800   Graded with Colorista and Film Convert.
  4. NO ADVERTISING ON THE FORUM! - EOSHD “We used the Alexa as a baseline and had the D800 recording to an outboard recorder uncompressed and to an internal memory card at H.264 compressed,†says Fletcher. “We also tested a Canon C300 with a Cooke lens on it—a $40,000 setup—running alongside the $4,000 Nikon D800 setup. The Canon footage had what you might call an over-smooth look to it. But the D800 uncompressed footage blew us away.†When they looked at D800 footage alongside the ARRI baseline at Technicolor, he says, “we really couldn’t see much difference. But our jaws really hit the floor when we brought up the compressed D800 footage. Right then the decision was made with the post supervisor Megan Walsh that if we shoot with this camera, there is no need to shoot uncompressed. That means the file size goes from 4GB to 600 MB. That’s just the factory setup, too.†“It won’t ever replace the Alexa, which is a better form factor, a better picture, and has more dynamic range. The Alexa is also amazing at highlight retention, and that’s because it is doing an in-camera HDR and noise mask. But when you look at how the Nikon is handling the roll-off on the highs, how it is handling the toe of the curve, [and] how it is handling no information to getting into the dark grays and coming up in the middle tones, it is doing a fantastic job. Footage is creamy and smooth, much like the Alexa footage. It really looks cinematic and stellar.â€
  5. I was out testing my two Dog Schidt Optiks lenses in Stockholm, and found two guys playing on a street and decided to shoot them:   https://vimeo.com/75661923   I have two FF58's: one low contrast +  more flares and amber tone, and one with a bit more contrast but with less flaring and neutral tone. This is shot with the one that flares less.   Footage is a bit shaky, all I had for stabilizing the camera was a minitripod, Velbon Ultra Maxi Mini: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ4mZLVSi-Cl4d8xdloHiWpLyIjGvb5EBnbDU5Eg0LuG1WLfmX-JA   Having the weight of the tripod and a bit more to hold on to helps a bit, but not much.
  6. I'm learning filmmaking besides my fulltime job, and unfortunately I haven't found much time to edit the footage I shoot yet. I put up one short clip for a few friends to see though, so I thought I might share it with you guys as well.   https://vimeo.com/59350324     Sadly enough, I found out that the fine detail was lost and that the sand which is blowing around in the foreground was quite blocky when vimeo had recompressed it. The original footage looks a whole lot better. If you guys have any tips on how to get the best anamorphic footage possible on vimeo/youtube, I'd love to hear them. I'm wondering if a 2538x1080 source uploaded to vimeo would have resulted in better video than the 1280x544 video I uploaded...   Also, I'm quite happy about how nicely the D800 is handling the dynamic range in this shot. In the light where I shot this footage I know that my old Nikon D200 stills camera wouldn't have captured a still with this much dynamic range in it.
  7. We just finished a week in the BVI shooting with a Nikon D800, check out the video below. For the lenses we used the Nikkor 24mm/1.4 and 85mm/1.8 primes, so it was helpful with the D800's ability to record in both FX and DX format. For stabilization we used a Glidecam HD2000. The underwater shots were taken with a GoPro and RX100 (which unfortunately got fried due to a leaky underwater housing).
