http://vimeo.com/70264199 I had all but given up on ever finding the perfect 8mm anamorphic lens, but I recently got my hands on what I think is the most rare anamorphic lens that I have ever owned -- the Zeiss Ikon Anamorphot 22/1.5x. It is almost impossible to find any information on this lens. I could not find any pictures of the lens, nor any test footage. In fact, the only reason that I knew that it existed was a tip from anamorphic Godfather Kostas Petsas, who also has one. He compares his Ikon to the Iscomorphot 8/1.5x. Like the Iscomorphot 8/1.5x, it's an 8mm "baby" lens that is fully rack-focusable. The helicoid is smooth and has a very manageable throw, so focusing is no problem at all as you will see in the test video above. The slightly wider diameter actually makes the lens easier to focus the baby Isco, and of course it is much more focus-friendly than the strenuous focus throw of the Iscorama. It's a little bigger than the Iscomorphot 1.5x (front filter thread is about 43mm, and rear diameter is about 32mm) but still much smaller and lighter than the Iscomorphot 2x or the Iscorama. It's nice not to have to add in a support system to hold the weight of the additional lens. Coupled with a DSLR, a taking lens with a silver finish and a silver clamp from Redstan, this could be a great stealth anamorphic setup. I think that perhaps the most substantial difference between the Ikon and the Iscomorphot is that the Ikon is usable when the taking lens is wide open (at least at f/1.8). Though it is not razor sharp like the Iscorama, I don't see a limitation here. The minimum focus distance is impressive. I've been able to focus as close as 22" wide open without any diopters. I haven't really put it through the paces yet, but from what I've seen, the lens has some nice, understated character. It's a lot less smeary than some of the 8mm anamorphics that I have used. The flares are thinly stretched blue ovals, similar to my Moller 32/2x (but I think that I may like the Zeiss flares even more). I have been able to use it with my FS100 with a 50mm lens, which is usually my go-to lens when I first get an anamorphic lens. I'll have to test it to see if I can get away with using a wider taking lens. I am excited about this lens. It is the easiest, simplest anamorphic lens that I have ever used and the image is very pleasing. I think that this is a winner. If anyone else has one, I'd love to compare notes.

Hello, Long time lurker, finally decided to register to learn and contribute. I've been doing a little testing with some of my Contax Zeiss glass as a taking lens to my Iscorama. Previously, I've only used a Helios 44-2. The Zeiss is noticeably sharper and seems to work well. Sorry, no lens flares here - just a quick test of overall sharpness and bokeh. I tried using a Contax Zeiss 45mm f2.8 pancake, which made a a nice, compact setup, but it unfortunately wasn't as sharp and I'd hoped for. Drew

First online social media advert for J'adore Models Manchester, shot on the Sony A7SII in SLog3. Used the excellent Zeiss loxia primes, 50mm f2 and 35mm f2. Recorded full-frame 4K at 24fps, shutter lower than I would prefer due to room lighting restrictions but decided to roll with it instead of using LEDs to keep a cinematic look, pools of light and dark shadows etc. Looking to shoot more of these throughout the year and would love to know what peoples thoughts were... Latest work shot on the Sony A7SII with Zeiss Loxia prime lenses. Online commercial for a british watch brand. The film will be used for website/blog use and also taking 15 second social media cuts for further advertising. Also used the excellent 3DR Solo drone for the opening wide and SLog3 profile for further flex in the grade. Hope you enjoy! Latest in the Ascensions Series for Highsnobiety. Took huge risks with this film, to shoot in harsh winter conditions, heavy rain throughout with little shelter. Shot over three days, we hiked further than a marathon and climbed over 7,500ft, the most intense and demanding film in the series yet. The aerial and natural elements where shot on returned visits to concentrate on time with the model. A more in-depth piece will be released via Zeiss and Lenspire later today i believe. Hope you enjoy my hardest project to date and would love further feedback. Ascensions is a new short film series that focuses on some of the established, as well as up-and-coming names in modern streetwear culture. Each short is shot amid a vast natural landscape, with the intention of representing a brand’s rise toward the summit in their field. The fourth in the series features Black Rabbit БЯ. Black Rabbit which name originates from the cyrillic initials, “БЯ” is not constrained by seasons and built without the pricing compromises demanded by the fashion market. The series is exclusively released via Highsnobiety. highsnobiety.com blackrabbit.jp Filmed on the Sony A7SII Aerial Film - 3DR Solo Rig: Movcam A7SII cage Timelapse: Sony A7II Lenses: Zeiss Loxia 35mm f2 / 50mm f2 4K / 1920 x 1080 HD / 16:9 / 120fps / 24fps Music: Wife - Like Chrome Album - What's Between Label: Tri▽angle Motion Titles: Yoke Creative yokecreative.co.uk Still Images: Benjamin Moore @photographmoore

Latest work shot on the Sony A7SII in PP5 due to indoor light restrictions. Time-lapse work via the A7II, all with Zeiss E-Mount lenses. Loxia 50mm and 35mm, final time-lapse with the Zeiss Touit 12mm in aps-c crop. Cut and graded in FCPX. Love to know what people think? HUF heads to the summit in our latest "Ascensions" film After kicking the Ascensions Series off with up-and-coming streetwear brand THFKDLF, we now turn our attention to established streetwear imprint HUF. Each video in the series is shot amid a vast natural landscape, with the intention of representing a brand’s rise toward the summit in their field. Since beginning as a small shop in San Francisco in 2002, HUF has turned into a strong name in the skateboarding and streetwear worlds. Donning the brands spring and classic garments, the model heads through an abandoned quarry and up to the UK’s largest drop waterfall, showing off both the clothing and landscape to full effect. Been shooting out in the forest last sunday with the Contax Zeiss 35-70 f3.4 and 80-200 f4. The 100-300 which is supposed to be better has yet to arrive. I find that 80-200 is much better without a teleconverter attached to it, much more crisp images. Graded using filmconvert and loving it. I think the contax glass lineup compliments what filmconvert tries to do. On a sidenote, I got lost during filming couple of times in the bush. I think I got disoriented while trying to avoid the race tracks. There was no signal and phone battery was on 5%. I hated myself for walking into the forest so unprepared. Almost went to the point of panic until I eventually found my way back. Never knew I would need orienteering skills for filming. Thank god I took minimal gear that day. Below is the video.

Finally finished my short film project "Separate Flow". Waiting for the right anamorphic and I think the SLR Magic Anamorphot was it. Very practical to use on location, it worked really well for this project. Debated long and hard on using either the GH3 or 5DmkIII RAW. In the end I went with shooting RAW even though I had a lot of problems, including the camera shutting down at one point. But it's the flexibility of RAW in post that won out in the end. In the future I will use AF with the GH3/4 since it's more usable, especially when using a steadicam.

Hey! Does anyone have a suggestion for a good film-look lens with Nikon mount which doesn't cost a thousand dollars? I'm not quite happy with my lenses so far concerning the sharpness and look, as most of them are photographic lenses. Zoom wouldn't be bad, but doesn't have to be. Also of course it should be somewhat fast. Perhaps anyone has a advice or a secret tip? Shall be used on BMPCC with BMPCC-Nikon Speedbooster.

https://vimeo.com/59642343 Used Equipment: Canon C100 Zeiss CP2 18mm/35mm/85mm “A human being is only breath and shadow.†– Sophocles This quote from Sophocles inspired me to shoot this short film. It was a really nice experience to work with Canon C100. I pushed the ISO up to 4000 because i wanted to see how much noise will be generated. Of course there is some grain in the picture but the low light ability of the Canon C100 is still amazing. Working with the Compact Prime Lenses was uncomplicated. The Magnifier Button, which operates also during recording is an amazing tool. The form factor of the C100 is very handy and you are able to make your shots in a quick and comfortable way.

Myanmar Goes Democrazy is a documentary about the ostensible change in a country which suffered a military dictatorship for 60 years. This country is Myanmar also known as Burma. In November 2010 the first “democratic elections “ in decades took place. On the 1st of April 2012 reelections became necessary. Currently the country again faces a huge turning point in its history. Scepticism and Euphoria go hand in hand in daily life. We accompany 8 people from different social backgrounds and get to know their daily life and biographies. As there is a reporter who shows us her way to freedom of speech, astudent who was forced to flee from Burma, a monch who was condemned to house detention. In 90 minutes MGD confronts us with further subtile but striking stories about the lifes of people between past and present. Their struggle to fit their repressed biographies into a freedom yet to be gained. Democracy is one step ahead, but but hopes and fears of the people need to be heard.

Hi Gals and Boys, my name is Vi-Dan Tran and I am a filmmaker from Germany. From the very beginning of my studies I have only done action films. In the end I decided I wanted to try something new. The short movie "You Never Know" was supposed to be my first non-action movie for my final diploma exams of Media Design with focus on filmmaking. This idea came in my mind while studying in the third semester. I wanted to raise the bar for me with this film. I focused on the characters, dramaturgy, the emotional situation and storytelling. Logline: The successfully womanizer Terry gets into trouble when he falls for the cute and chaotic Lara, unaware that he himself is about to get played... technical details: 5 Days shooting with 95% Available Light and Guerilla Style. Almost without permissions.
