It's the last day of summer in rural Illinois, 1967. A boy lays alone in the dirt. Trying to catch his breath, sweat rolling down his face, he remembers a recent encounter with two other boys. As the conversation unfolds we slowly realize who we are seeing and why he's alone.

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster I guess. I made a review video for a shoulder rig kit I bought a little while ago, then realised I didn't really have anywhere to share it (again, habitual lurker) and here we are :) Kinda the reason I decided to do this review is that I tend to be pretty nervous buying gear from brands and companies I've never really heard of and can't find any reviews for online. I imagine I'm not alone in this feeling, and I've lurked as you all lust and argue over higher end rigs like Redrocks, Tiltas, Lanpartes etc, kinda wishing I had the money to afford one. I thought some of the lesser known brands (Proaim, Camtree, other weird ones you find on ebay) had some nice looking rigs that were in my price range if I saved but I couldn't find any reviews and I really hate wasting money. In this case I ended up biting the bullet on this kit, a Camtree Hunt III Filmmaking Kit (yeah, it is probably is a copy of a similar Tilta rig) and I've been really happy with it. Camtree have actually added an audio splitter to the kit since I bought it for the same price, so it's even better now I guess. You do get a lot of bits for what you pay for (matte box with flags, follow focus, very nice handles, rods, a battery mount & cables, etc) and the quality is quite good, but I've waffled enough. Have a watch and let me know what you think, and if you have any questions feel free to ask (I've added a massive amount of little comments to the Youtube description too), I don't want to seem like I've just randomly shown up to be shill or anything ^_^ Here's a link to the site I bought it from if you want to have a looksie: www.proaimshop.com/pas/CAMTREE-HUNT-III-DSLR-Filmmaking-Kit.html Cheers, Brad

Hello everyone I'm wanting to film a short Sci-Fi film for one of my Uni projects and I'm wanting to use an Anamorphic lens to get a more cinematic feel. I'll be using Canon DSLR's, in particular, the 60D, 7D and maybe a 5D if I can get my hands on one. But until now, I've had no experience whatsoever with using, buying etc. an Anamorphic DSLR lens. I've been looking at what Vid-Atlantic with their Anamorph Filters, but from what I can gather, that doesn't give a true Anamorphic look to the film. Another issue I'm worried about is learning how to properly use an anamorphic lens as when I've watched various videos of people using them, there's vignetting and focussing issues. Can anyone steer me in the right direction on what I should do/buy? Thanks for all your help

“You find yourself at a sex party. This is not a fun surprise. What is this place? Why can’t you just go home?†Watch the film here! 'Black And White' is a nail-biting, ultra unnerving morality tale about a man that finds himself stuck at a sex party in the middle of the country. It’s about the horror of moral collapse and how people act when no one is watching. It could be one of the most intense clips you watch all year! Shot entirely on a Nikon D800 DSLR. Buckle yourself in! Richard Williamson Writer.Director www.richardwilliamsonfilms.com *My last two films screened at a host of international festivals and won awards in the USA. This newest work is releasing immediately online.

I want to use a zoom with my anamorphic attachment but don't know where to start looking, I need it to be cheap, vintage, and obviously the front filters can't turn when zooming or focusing the lens any recommendations?

Ok so I've been using cineplus cinema picture style along side ive Lotus picture style both being a Kodak vision2 kind of in camera grade. I usually tweak them a bit in post but for the most part they are very good and quite cheap honestly but that's not what I wanted to talk about. What do you guys think about grading footage to look like 35 or 16mm film? I'm not talking necessarily "the film look" but I mean making footage actually look as if it was shot on film. What techniques do you use? Any type of workflow/grains you recommend? Is it overrated to go for this look and how often do you do this kind of grade?

I just purchased an Industar 61 50 mm lens for my GH2 off of Craigslist. I have the right adapter it fits perfectly; yet, when I just tried to test it out (in my bedroom at night) nothing would come into focus. Please keep in mind I'm a novice learning my tools. I've read that this lens when wide open can be rather soft and isn't fast enough for indoors; yet, I didn't realize how this was connected to focus. Do you think this is the issue here? Not something wrong with the lens itself. Regardless I'll be testing it out tomorrow in daylight and have a better idea. Would appreciate any insight and lessons from your expertise! Thank you! :)

Hey guys, Check out this kickstarter of the Lenzhound Wireless Follow Focus by Motion Dogs. They just released their newest update and are desperately trying to reach their stretch goals in order to supply us indie filmmakers with the best possible gear! I think this is a fantastic product and I can see myself using it non-stop on sets, especially since I am still in film school and every bit of speed and perfection on set really goes a long way. Anyway what do you guys think about it, and if you like it try and spread the word so that these amazing stretch goals can be fulfilled! Thanks guys! Hello Guys.. I have a 5dMK3, about 7-8 lenses ranging from the 70-200mm f2.8(Biggest) to the 85mm f1.8 (Smallest) and a Zacuto Fee-N-G, and some accessories, (No Mattebox) Some Lavs and 4 H4n's and a Rode NTG3 with a Headphone Pair and a Presonus Audiobox for Mixing which is not huge by any means and my Macbook Pro 15'4 inch laptop. I have Philip Bloom's pocket dolly by kessler, Glidecam HD4000, a Tripod, 3 Gorpo camers, no Huge Accessories, just some small stuff like a gorillapod and what not. I have a AtomOS Ninja 2, and some SSD's and currently I have three Bags holding those stuff, 2 Lowepro's Trekker 600 and a Pelican. I want to know if there is a bag big enough to accomodate all of those Equipment? I can let out the Glidecam and Dolly since they have their own bags, and I rarely take them together to a shoot. Any Advise Please? Thanks//

Hey guys, I'm buying my first camera soon, and I'll be using it to mostly make short films. Skits, shorts, comedy, maybe even record music videos and some landscapes? Hoping to find a camera that is versatile in it's use so I can use two or three lens at most while I'm learning. I'm doing as much research as possible before I even put a dollar down because I know it can be pricey. I'd say my budget would be 3,000 and lower with few accessories maybe. Was hoping I'd be able to move my experience and lenset from this camera run onto my next in a couple of years. I'm trying to find something that'll be able to last resolution-wise for the next couple of years as I learn and come into it. I'm hoping for something that shoots great HD 1080p 24fps right out of the box and more than likely i'll learn post production on H.264 and maybe move up to RAW or something higher eventually. I read that the workflow with RAW takes a bit of learning and processing power. Here are my thoughts thus far: I've found a $1600 5D MKII body only, and I wouldn't know where to start with the lens. I've also found a$1700 6D body only [It doesn't have CF slots so I wouldn't be able to move into RAW] I also saw that the D7 is getting RAW 1080p video soon from Magic Lantern, so I was curious if I should just wait around for that. Is this a guaranteed thing, by the way? ML isn't supported by Canon so they sort of just do their own thing, right? I've also learned about the VAF filters to combat aliasing on certain cameras. I saw the GH2[the hack looked very nice], GH3, and G6 and was wondering what my best option would be out of those three as well. The 5D MKIII is way out of my budget for now. So, if you guys could help me ingest this brand new world of DSLRs I'd appreciate it greatly.

Hi guys. I'm a filmmaker that currently shoots with dslrs (Canon t2i & 7D) and i'm looking into purchasing my own lighting kit to light some of my future projects (and slowly move away from renting and borrowing from my friends). I was looking into LEDs because they don't overheat, more lightweight, and generally don't use a lot of power. Any suggestions?

These music videos will not be to everyones taste, but heres a bunch of videos I've shot and edited on the GH3. My business uses 2 of these on a regular basis. Lenses used are SLR Magic 12mm & 50mm, Panasonic 12-35mm and a bunch of Canon FDs (amazing!) I hope it will be a nice break from all those wonderful test videos swarming Vimeo. Love the camera! Hi guys, Long time reader, first time poster. I have a small production company, we shoot some studio stuff weekly, and venture out making some comedy sketches, and soon we hope to be doing some slightly heavier drama. we always strive to make our stuff look great, but we're a small run-and-gun team. We work out of backpacks with mostly handheld kit. We need a new camera. One we can sync our H6N into, use in the studio with our Autocue, our Stedicam and take out on shoots. We've narrowed it down to the 700D(T5i), the GH2/3 (? same ?) and the A57. Can you offer any advice? Important factors are : Form factor Ease of use and battery life FPS Lens availability usability (Focus peaking would be nice...) Thank in advance - and before I'm lambasted I know this will have been asked a hundred times, but trawling though all the posts will take an age....

Hey people, as a first endeavor I recently got my hands on some Rectimascop 48/2x lenses. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if so what is it. Does anyone have a complete break down of a DSLR setup that works? (Clamps, bars, diapers, lens, etc...) Thanks in advance

Im in need of some advice. I have a full Redrock UltraCage setup. Backplate everything and power distribution system connected to a V-Mount battery. Its heavy to say the least. I bought the Steadicam Merlin and body brace. Which worked with just the dslr, well even with the beginning parts of the ultracage. However with the full ultracage and battery it is far too heavy. Im in need of a scale for sure, however does anyone have any suggestions for good heavy duty heavy camera stabilizers? Im concerned the Glidecam 4000 doesn't support the weight I need it to support. Additional accessories on the camera Marshall LCD H4N Zoom Sennheiser boom mic with blimp windscreen Its all very heavy and most I can find only support 4-10 lbs Ultracage setup Ultracage Ultracage backpack and v-mount battery attachment Shoulder support (which I could very well remove without much effort that in itself is heavy) MatteBox (id like to use this however i can remove it) Id like one that i can just lock onto with a Manfrotto quick release plate whenever I need a steadicam shot and not have to take the whole ultracage apart just to do it. Thanks in advance.

Hallo there! Next month i am going to buy a dslr or a camcorder... And i need help, to decide what to buy... Well, i saw a lot of dslr video tests on youtube, most videos where fine when the dslr's where still, but when they were "in action" video was kind of (i dont know how to explain that, lets say wobbling/distorted they didn't had that "smooth" on video), was that because of bad settings? I don't know you will tell me! On the other hand the camcorders, didn't had that kind of problem.. I like a lot the mirrorless Panasonic GH3, but i saw "that problem" in video tests too...Is there anyone using the GH3? I need your opinion too! My budget is up to 1800€, maybe more.... I need help! Thank you!

Hello all, i have been doing wildlife / birding photography for a few years now and i have always wanted to experiment with video and install magic lantern on my 5D II but have never gone ahead and done it, but i just picked up the 50D because of the possibilites of the raw video recording (and i needed to replace my old and beaten up 40D). Anyways i really would love to get into film making, especially wildlife filming, but i don't know ANYTHING about the basics of filming. I am wondering if there is a good guide anywhere out there. I will be using the 5D II or 50D (preferably the 50D because i use the 5D II for photography jobs). Also does anyone have any good videos of nature or wildlife videos? I'm guessing landscape shots can make a popular subject, is anyone doing wildlife or birds?

Alright, not sure if this is the right forum but, I recently just got a GH3 , I do mostly VIDEO, I film alot of skateboarding about 60 percent and then short movies/docs/video/ the other 40 percent. I am an old vx2000 user for like 10 years and thought it was time to upgrade. I been researching for weeks and decided to get a GH3, My question is should I have i gotten a panny ag-ac90 insted? This was my reasoning, For years i kept hearing and seeing how good the gh2 was, and how nice the quality was. i saw alot of pro filmers starting to use dslr's granted they prolly use mark 3's but whatever, I saw many tests were it was a gh3 vs the ag-ac90, and they looked just about the same , the ag-ac90 was about 800 dollars more but i would need 2 lenses for my gh3 for they even out in price. I understand that the Ag-ac90 is an easier SHOT and GO, and the has XLR, and an adapter for gh3 is more $$$$ like 300, but all the seperate videos and short films i kept watching for both cameras, the GH3 BESTED the ag-ac90 easly quality, un color corrected and color corrected I could not understand why, WHy dslrs have such good quality when cameras made just for filmimg can't keep up. So in my NOT PRO opinion i got the gh3, it just shipped yesturday. IF u take away the shot and go, and the better sound controls ( i don't really mind taking time to set-up ) DID i make the right choice. Also as there was a awsome hack for gh2 that made it super sweet, i am hoping sometime within the year the gh3 would get one that would make it even more better. Opinions Please? sorry for making you read all this, --Alex--

Hey guys! New here, my latest music video w/ Canon 60D + Flycam
Mark Arica posted a topic in Cameras
Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I didn't see a section to introduce myself so I guess I'll just share a video! A little tl:dr story about me, I started off as an amateur photographer until someone asked me if I could do a video for them. Warning them that I never shot video, I did it anyway while applying my photography knowledge into video. The result is me selling my 40D to get a 60D lol. First one I did was back in August 2012. The person that asked me is the same one I just finished my recent video for. He goes by Sizzle and is a hip-hop artist. Gear info: Canon 60D Sigma 30mm 1.4 Canon 50mm 1.8 Flycam Nano Neewer CN-160 on a lightweight monopod I don't know many editing softwares except Sony Vegas Pro 12. The photographer in me tells me to try to get it right in camera and not rely on Photoshop. Well, in this video you won't see special effects to try to make it fancy lol although I'd like to learn them one day to have in my arsenal. http://youtu.be/RYTmwl3w_eE Views are around 31k in his channel, got there in less than a month. This is my third music video. CC welcome. All my videos thus far have been on other music websites (not like MTV or BET or anything lol) so the feedback so far from fans have been great. The only CC I get are from fellow videographers lol. Also, Like my page if you want :) I try to update it with other video projects I'm doing but also sharing photography/videography stuff/news. I currently have at least four other music videos pending. But with school and all I can't really get to them yet. https://www.facebook.com/MAVPMedia-
