  1. I single-handedly shot an entire narrative short film during the first lockdown, using the original BMPCC. The camera performed magnificently but I did have it fully rigged out. Shot using two SLR Magic primes - 10mm T2.1 and the 17mm T1.6. A one-person crew and one-mother cast, this is a film featuring my poor mum, who’s never acted, and a very, very unlikely hero… Jean-Luc Godard once said “All you need for a movie is a gun and a girl.” My mum doesn’t speak very good English, so I had to do without dialogue. I didn’t have a gun so we had to do without that too. We couldn’t leave the house, so I shot it all there. And I had no crew to help me, so I did everything myself. If anyone has any feedback or questions I'm always happy to hear! https://youtu.be/SBwje8EDl84
  2. Hi Peoples, We shot the following for the Cinema5a challenge which is taking place at the moment. If you like it PLEASE tick the thumbs up on youtube and feedback is very welcome.
  3. Recently created a new (one-off) LUT for the Panasonic GH2 because like me, I know there are people out there who still use (or would love to get back into using) this soon to be forgotten gem of a camera for video. Though it's not free, it's still cheaper than a Golden Arches Meal and worth checking out the page even if it's just out of curiosity. Thank you. 5. Hey guys, Just wanted to share a promo I just made for DKNY with the Sony a7S. This was made as a tribute to my beautiful wife, Kari, whom passed in August 2015 from Cystic Fibrosis - a chronic illness with no known cure. Every shot but the New York B-roll was with the a7S (recorded in 4K by the Atomos Ninja Flame), and graded with FilmConvert. I hope you enjoy the video. Please let me know what you think! Best wishes, Bradley
  6. This fantastic short film "Before the End of the World" Shot using the 5-Axis Gimbal by my friend. Hope you enjoy it.
  7. After a long time, I finally produced a new short movie. This time with the Sony FS7, probably not the last time. Coming from a RED Epic, I have to say: The dynamic range is incredible! Shot in CineEL S-LOG 3, 4K 24P. Color graded in Davinci Resolve. Only used small LED lights.
  8. Latest work shot on the Sony A7SII with Zeiss Loxia prime lenses. Online commercial for a british watch brand. The film will be used for website/blog use and also taking 15 second social media cuts for further advertising. Also used the excellent 3DR Solo drone for the opening wide and SLog3 profile for further flex in the grade. Hope you enjoy! 11. Hello everyone ! This is my new movie. It's entitled « eet Gourmandise ». This is a film about the preparation of cake, a "entremets", specially created for the film. You can see it there : It was shot with : Canon 5D MarkII with Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L + 70-200mm f/2.8 L + 100mm Macro. It was editing with Avid and color graded with DaVinci Resolve. 12. Im a novice filmmaker and I've been following websites like EOSHD, reading blogs like Philip Blooms and generally for the last 6-8 months researching camera gear while I have been saving up enough to buy my own gear and not just borrow friends. I am looking to spend about $1500 at first. I love video and intend to shoot more, but I also shoot a lot of stills as well and that is obviously where my problems start. I would be very happy to buy a G6 or a used GH3 for video as I know these will outclass almost anything at that price range for video. Add a bunch of old nikkor primes and id be set. But I know stills and the DOF id get with the mft mount is nothing like that of a APS-C or FF nikon or canon. THE SONY A7s is amazing and if i could afford one I'd get it in a heartbeat, it retails at 3300 NZD here in NZ so its ridiculously out of my price range. Im looking to go second hand as it'll mean i can buy more lenses and such. Ive been looking at used 7D and D7100 bodies as both sit between 700-800 used meaning i could easily pick up a 50mm 1.8 prime, a 17-50 sigma or tamron 2.8 and maybe a telephoto lens for stills. Any suggestions or help I don't know what else to read or look at but I know what I buy now will influence my decisions and I'm not sure what to invest in. Also side note; if I purchase a 7D i will be shooting near exclusively with ML.

  14. Hi everyone! Do you know any website where only professional videos are published? I couldn't find it for quite a long time... so I decided to create my own project. The teaser website: www.vimazing.com The full vimazing will be online soon! Please contact me if you want to collaborate ;)
  15. Based on the chart below, I'm not sure how much longer it can last, but for now, under pressure from several directors, including Quentin Tarantino (of course), Christopher Nolan, Judd Apatow, and J.J. Abrams; the studios have all agreed to pre-purchase film stock from Kodak. Article was in the WSJ, this after Kodak recently emerged from bankruptcy: http://online.wsj.com/articles/kodak-movie-film-at-deaths-door-gets-a-reprieve-1406674752?tesla=y
  16. Hello everyone, We are planning to shoot a very low budget feature film this summer and I have some questions on the camera set we will use and I hope you can help me on some of the following: 1. The 16:9 sensor on the GH2 + a 2x anamorphic adapter produces a final stretched anamorphic aspect of 3.55. Which would result in (1920x1080)*(2)= 3840x1080. Instead of doing the decompression from 2x, I want to interpret the shot as if pixels would be 1.333 or 1.4587. I know it keeps the image still a little deform but I think I like the look. Whats your technical and/or creative take on it? (SEE IMAGES BELOW) 2. We would project it on standard 2k (2048×1080) DCP cinemas and the final cut would fit into it with a 2048x858 (2.39:1) size movie. Am I right? or does it work in another way? 3. I am currently using Sedna AQ1 for max detail against anamorphic softening against big screen projection. Do you think it will hold enough? Would you sharpen in post? Whats you recommend any other hack? Given this 3 points which would be your opinion on this process? Have any of you seen any gh2 anamorphic content projected in 2k dcp? How does it stand? Thanks for your help! P.D. Anyone selling a Kowa 16-h (8z) In order not to be so limited with the 16D in lens minimum mm´s?
  17. Hi, we did recently shoot a short film "The Journey". It's about Courage, Hope, Experience ... What is nice and what is not so well done? A short feedback would be very nice guys / girls. Here is the link: https://productionawards.sony.eu/videos/student/ea60dc22de239e94e902aa8d29576746#.UzNlM_l5Ph7 or https://productionawards.sony.eu/go/697 Description: We all wait for that one moment, that will enlight our heart, we will see things different. We will start, to search for love, search for answers, search for reasons. The flame in our Heart, will overcome the fear to lose, the fear to ask, the fear to understand. Time only goes forward, so should we. Learn from the Past, live in the moment and hope for the future. Believe in yourself. Have fun ! We just want feedback but if you want to support us you can vote, too. Anyways, thanks for either of them guys / girls.
  18. Ok so I've been using cineplus cinema picture style along side ive Lotus picture style both being a Kodak vision2 kind of in camera grade. I usually tweak them a bit in post but for the most part they are very good and quite cheap honestly but that's not what I wanted to talk about. What do you guys think about grading footage to look like 35 or 16mm film? I'm not talking necessarily "the film look" but I mean making footage actually look as if it was shot on film. What techniques do you use? Any type of workflow/grains you recommend? Is it overrated to go for this look and how often do you do this kind of grade?
  19. Hey Guys! Me and a few colleagues participated in a short film competition here in Germany called "99Fire Films Award". Here is our film: http://www.myvideo.de/Aktion/99fire-films-2014?videoId=9456776 We had 99 hours to produce a film with a length of 99 seconds about a given topic ("Life writes the most moving stories") It would be nice if you vote for us, if you like it! (It's possible to vote 9 times) Feel free to comment/criticize! Thanks! _________________________________________________________________________________________ - shot on BMPCC + Speedbooster(BMPCC edition) + Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 - edited in FCP7 / Adobe Audition - graded in Adobe After Effects
  20. https://vimeo.com/59642343 Used Equipment: Canon C100 Zeiss CP2 18mm/35mm/85mm “A human being is only breath and shadow.†– Sophocles This quote from Sophocles inspired me to shoot this short film. It was a really nice experience to work with Canon C100. I pushed the ISO up to 4000 because i wanted to see how much noise will be generated. Of course there is some grain in the picture but the low light ability of the Canon C100 is still amazing. Working with the Compact Prime Lenses was uncomplicated. The Magnifier Button, which operates also during recording is an amazing tool. The form factor of the C100 is very handy and you are able to make your shots in a quick and comfortable way.

  24. This is my short film 'Light' I've been making over the last month using a Canon 600d with Pentax lenses.   http://vimeo.com/69428988   It's a short (90 second) simple story about a lighthouse getting through the night, and features lots of experiments in cinematography - all done on my kitchen table with reversed and macro lenses and a lot of ice!   We used a Canon 600D (with Pentax adapter for my lenses) for the film itself as the manual control on this camera, the full HD digital zoom ability and swivel screen made it very useful for those tiny close ups! The film is all shot "live" in 25 frames per second, it's not animated.   We used a Pentax-A 50mm f1.2 and a Sigma 24mm superwide II f2.8 mounted in reverse for super-close ups, and a Pentax-A 100mm f4 macro for the widest shots - none of which had an area bigger than, say, a post-it note - and some of the extreme close ups were over an area the size of a fingernail or smaller at around 2:1 to 4:1 scale. For the reversed lenses we used a Canon to Pentax adapter, then a Pentax reversing ring (52mm filter thread for both lenses), then the lens! Note, if you want to use a lens in reverse for close ups you need to use one with an aperture ring, which means most modern digital lenses won't give you any aperture control.   We needed a lot of light for shooting down to f16 at 1/50 at ISO 160 in extreme macro where you get several more stops of light falloff, and so we had a big hot 800W light. For some shots it was around a foot (30 cm) from the ice, causing severe melting problems! So we needed to be fast and accurate with focus to a millimetre level on a disintegrating, slippery set all of which was too small to position without completely ruining composition! Most of the time it was a fun challenge but was occasionally frustrating!   The ice variety was achieved by chipping it in different ways, letting it melt for different times, freezing larger volumes of water (mug sized) and smashing the ice with a hammer to get particularly clear stuff, or ice cube size to get the cloudier stuff. Some of it had a small amount of blue food colouring too.   We edited in Premiere Pro CS6 and After Effects CS6, where we added the lighthouse light and did a little colour correction.   The film was made for the Depict short film competition in the UK. I hope you like the film, happy to explain any techniques and looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
