  1. I recently purchased an Isco Ultra Star Anamorphic lens. To my dismay, the focusing ring seems to be locked, and can't rotate forwards or backwards.I don't want to start messing with screws; I'm afraid I'll misalign the elements by doing so. Is there a specific set of screws I should undo? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

  3. Hi my anamorphic friends... longtime reader here, first time poster though...   With a bleeding heart, I have decided to sell my pristine and immaculate Iscorama Anamorphot 1,5 x - 54. As longtime readers here I don´t need to tell you that this baby is really the mother of dragons... errr... of Iscoramas. I belive it´s single coated... I´ll put up some photos tomorrow so you can check it out. It comes with three different adapterrings, two lenscaps and a fitting leather case.   Why am I selling it? Just because I need the money for the very interesting cameras that are launching soon or have just been launched. And because I still have my nice little Iscorama Cinegon 1,8/10 that´s working wonderfully on my GH2.... so the Iscorama 54 has to go.   Asking price is 2000 Euros or better... let the bidding war begin. I´m not using ebay, because I frigging hate them and paypal, too. (But will have to re-consider if no suitable offer turns up here...) But for now I will offer this beauty to the eoshd commmunity.   As I said, I´ll put up some photos tomorrow, but I can also send them to you by mail. I honestly would prefer a buyer from Germany and preferably someone living close by... Weather was too good to pass up the opportunity to shoot something. Although it got cold really fast again. Can't believe its supposed to be summer. Slowly getting used to the dual focusing. I found myself rushing a little bit in this kind of situation because I wanted to get shots while the sun was still up.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but here's Mauri Galiano's very nice test which compares the GH4's various aspect ratios in 4k "Photo" mode using a Bolex 16/32 1.5x, an Isco 1.7x and a 2x Proskar. This sealed my decision to finally pull the trigger on a GH4. The only limitation I see right now is it's only in 30p and 25p. Apparently someone within Panasonic is pushing hard for 24p. Otherwise the GH4 (except low light) is an embarrsment of riches. eris
  6. Hi, I would be hugely greatful if someone can offer me some advice on this lens and the problem i have with it. I have just recieved a Isco - Gottingen lens and the focus ring seems to be locked at 16m. I'm unable to focus and was hoping someone was able to inform me the correct way to be able to fix this, or inform me as to which sew to undo. Many thanks for you time :)

  8. Hi guys, We just shot this video with the BMCC, Metabones Speedbooster, Nikon Lenses and Iscorama 54MC. RAW files were developped in After Effects CS6 (with Camera Raw) to Prores444 2400/1350.   9. Hi guys, I'm a bit of an anamorphic noob. I bought an Isco-Gottingen Animex S8/2x. It's supposed to be the same as a rebranded Iscomorphot 8/2x according to this: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/2331-isco-gottingen-animex-s8-2x/ I bought it for 140 euros in perfect condition so I thought I was getting a great deal. I noticed straight that the image was very sharp. I just couldn't really get great anamorphic flares out of it. I love anamorphic.  When I compose shots in my head, invariably, an anamorphic lens is required to capture what I see.  Therefore, when I purchased my BMCC recently, I ran out and grabbed the first piece of glass I could get my hands on: an Isco-Gottingen Cinelux 2x anamorphic.  It was beat up and cheap on eBay, but the image quality is surprisingly nice.  My first test can be viewed here for anyone interested:   vimeo.com/72993815   But the thing is just a monster to deal with--one of the later generation Isco projection lenses that weighs twice as much as the camera.  Focusing is a mystery at best.  And I need a good 2m plus minimal focusing distance. The front of the lens is giant, so I can't fathom getting a diopter on there at all.  It shoots a nice image, but it's way limited   So the search goes on... I'm not to the point where I can afford an Iscorama 36 even if I were to cross paths with such a rare creature, so I'm really looking for feedback on that mid-tier, under 1k anamorphic that is functional, lightweight and sharp across a wide f/stop range.     I've come across the Iscomorphot 16 a couple of times, which although still a projection lens, appears smaller and more manageable.  Does anyone have any experience with this lens that can tell me if it's significantly more manageable than what I already own. Closer focusing, etc--better option for diopters.   Also, Sankors keep popping up in my search, mostly Cs and Fs.  Without Isco's patented technology, they can't rack focus, so are they really worth double the Isco projection lenses?  Likewise the Kowa Prominars--without a rack focus option, are they worth it??  $1200, seriously??   Or Henri Chretien Hypergonar 16 lens.  Never heard of them before, but I've seen two on eBay recently.  Worth pursuing?   Any and all help/advice welcome and appreciated!

Hey guys,   This might have come up before, but I seem to be having a strange phenomenon while using any thrid party taking lens with my Iscorama pre 36.  The stock nikkon 2.8 fixed lens that came with the Isco doesn't display these "icicle" like artifacts from flaring. This happens with my Nikkon 50mm  f1.4, and my Helios 58mm 44-2m, and also some weird transparent vignetting happens with the iris blades on both.  I was wondering if anyone knows why this is happening, and or have a possible solution for it.     The picture below is with my Nikkon 50mm f1.4, very simular to the results of the helios.         
  16. What are the honest odds of getting an iscorama 54 non multi coated anywhere at all. Just gotta get lucky? Theres one multicoated one on ebay.   Also wondering if anybody had a picture comparison of the multicoated vs non multicoated?

Basically just unscrew the rear lens and attach the anamorphic adapter to a DSLR/lens setup. If you are curious, here is an image (link below) taken with a Canon 7D, a Canon EF-S 60mm and the ISCO handheld at the front of the assembly. I have not tested any of its other qualities or shortcomings but this image may serve as a basic reference for anyone else considering such a lens. This is the first image taken with the setup. I set the red ISCO on infinity and focused with the Canon EF-S 60mm. Next step is to arrange an appropriate clamp.   19. Hi!   I have a 5d3 and am new to anamorphic shooting.   Getting ahold of an Isco 54 will be difficult, and probably out of my budget, lol.. So I've been looking at the Vid-Atlantic Isco's they sell for $849 with the clamp kits..   20. Hello fellow lens gurus, I've been looking to buy some kind of start lens, to what will hopefully soon be my anamorphic lens collection. I tired to buy a set of oct-19 lomos over the summer but was endlessly outbid. I'm a canon 5dmk3 and canon l series glass owner, and have wanted to adapt or better yet, actually own anamorphic primes that work on a full frame sensor without dual focusing or piggybacking lens together. I found this on eBay today but don't know much about this lens other than its a later isco and is multi coated. I am new to the anamorphic arena - and I have some questions regarding workflow for you experienced and professional anamorphic guru's.    Firstly, here's the gear I'm using:   Canon 5D Mark 3 Canon 85mm 1.2 II ISCO 1.75x   Editing with Final Cut Pro 7   My first question is:    Aspect Ratio:  What is the correct aspect ratio for a 1.75x ISCO.  I'm confused as to how to calculate 16:9 with a 1.75x zoom... does this mean that my aspect ratio is 2.35:1?    My second question: What is the proper workflow in order to edit anamorphic footage in fcp?  For example, once I've exported the H.264 footage recorded at 1080i24p into FCP, how do I squeeze the footage in order to use all the precious pixels at 16:9 with a 1.75x zoom?   My third question: Focusing.  Is it normal to not be able to focus my prime lens (manually) when the ISCO is attached?  It seems that I have to remove the ISCO lens in order to adjust focus.  Maybe there's something I'm missing with regards to the electronic mechanisms of the camera/lens that don't work with the ISCO?    I have more questions, but these would be incredibly helpful if someone can help me with these questions.    Thank you in advance!

Also posted this here to get others opinions on my situation!   I'm Matej, a filmmaker from Slovenia, and I am slowly trying to get into the anamorphic video shooting, since I love the classic cinema look, that can be achieved. But since no one in Slovenia is actually shooting anamorphicly, it is almost impossible to find any anamorphic lens here in Slovenia. Somehow, luckily, a friend of mine, who collects vintage lenses, happens to have some anamorphic lens which he is willing to sell some of them to me. Now here is the main situation: He has some rathenowers 48/2x and 80/2x, and the 2 versions of Isco Gottingen Anamorphotic 2x kiptars, one with the focus ring and 2 of the versions without one.   One without: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sicovdplas/ One with it: http://cameramate.com/images/s_15909.jpg   I am now asking for advice, which one of the 2 versions would be easier to use with a DSLR (in my case 600D and a 7D)? I suspect, that the focusless version is easier, because I can just focus with my lens, if I get a couple of close up filters.   Another problem is that the 2 focusless versions have lots of dust in the lens itself so I'm wondering if that is a huge dealbreaker or can it be cleaned?   Cheers!
