  1. I single-handedly shot an entire narrative short film during the first lockdown, using the original BMPCC. The camera performed magnificently but I did have it fully rigged out. Shot using two SLR Magic primes - 10mm T2.1 and the 17mm T1.6. A one-person crew and one-mother cast, this is a film featuring my poor mum, who’s never acted, and a very, very unlikely hero… Jean-Luc Godard once said “All you need for a movie is a gun and a girl.” My mum doesn’t speak very good English, so I had to do without dialogue. I didn’t have a gun so we had to do without that too. We couldn’t leave the house, so I shot it all there. And I had no crew to help me, so I did everything myself. If anyone has any feedback or questions I'm always happy to hear! https://youtu.be/SBwje8EDl84
  2. Well, it’s been 8 months since I completed this and almost a year since I promised @mercer to post it once completed I don’t really know what to say about this, it’s my first short and I wanted to try this medium after trying music, photography, drawing/painting and all sorts of writing in order to figure out myself and my depression. It took me months to complete due to my mental state and lack of energy and I intended to post this sooner, but life can be a little too much sometimes. Or very often in my case. Even though it was the hardest creative thing I’ve done in my life, (despite having a background or experience in most of the separate artforms that make up a film) I was really lost in the entire process and I developed love/hate relationship to it. I wanted to quit all the time when I wrote it, when prepping, when shooting and during the long, motivational drainage that is editing. But I guess that’s also where the love was born. No matter all the mistakes I made, I could somehow save it and make a decent first short thanks to the editing by re-arranging the pieces I had. Throw away most of it, stretching what was left of it, slowing or speeding up some of it, playing some of it in reverse. Dubbing in new sound (needed, cause most of it was unusable. Note to self: Don’t forget sound! I’ve tried to make another short since, but haven’t completed the shoot. I don’t know if I’ll finish that one, it’s just a silly comedy I made with my then girlfriend, now fiancée on my phone (This one was shot on the DVX200 before anyone asks, cameras are important on this forum apperantly, hehe) because she wanted me to make something less depressing, but I guess I’m just a gloomy guy, all my new ideas are based on my different malfunctions. Hopefully I’ll work up enough energy to make another, I really want to. Anyway, enough talking. I hope you’ll give this a go and give me some pointers, but go easy on me, okay? Now, pick you poison: https://vimeo.com/272702923 https://youtu.be/rsXdjH4I5YA

  4. Hey guys, Just wanted to share a promo I just made for DKNY with the Sony a7S. This was made as a tribute to my beautiful wife, Kari, whom passed in August 2015 from Cystic Fibrosis - a chronic illness with no known cure. Every shot but the New York B-roll was with the a7S (recorded in 4K by the Atomos Ninja Flame), and graded with FilmConvert. I hope you enjoy the video. Please let me know what you think! Best wishes, Bradley
  5. I shot this a few months ago. Looking to get some feedback on it before I start filming a bigger project in the next few weeks. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know whats up. mike
  6. After a long time, I finally produced a new short movie. This time with the Sony FS7, probably not the last time. Coming from a RED Epic, I have to say: The dynamic range is incredible! Shot in CineEL S-LOG 3, 4K 24P. Color graded in Davinci Resolve. Only used small LED lights.

  10. Hey fellas! Recently ditched my 5D3 for A7s. Mostly because of low light stuff but also for better slomo capabilities. Yesterday I tried 120p for the first time but I totally forgot about the flicker and WB was on auto so it doesn't went too well. Any tips on shooting extreme slomo indoors?

This is a recent short that I did. My wife and I were originally making it to use as a sort of announcement that we were having a baby (only our immediate family knew about it) but I also wanted it to stand alone as a fun little short. After shooting the bulk of the footage my wife went into labor the next day so we had to do all of the quick zoom/close-up shots weeks after. Better late than never! Since I was unfortunately in the video, I had to rely on my wife for shooting most of it and when we couldn't operate the camera ourselves, we called over my Dad and a friend in the middle of the night to help us shoot. All three of them had absolutely zero experience shooting anything and as a testament to the NX1, they all learned the basics of the camera reasonably quickly.

We will start, to search for love, search for answers, search for reasons. The flame in our Heart, will overcome the fear to lose, the fear to ask, the fear to understand. Time only goes forward, so should we. Learn from the Past, live in the moment and hope for the future. Believe in yourself. Have fun ! 17. https://vimeo.com/59642343 Used Equipment: Canon C100 Zeiss CP2 18mm/35mm/85mm “A human being is only breath and shadow.†– Sophocles This quote from Sophocles inspired me to shoot this short film. It was a really nice experience to work with Canon C100. I pushed the ISO up to 4000 because i wanted to see how much noise will be generated. Of course there is some grain in the picture but the low light ability of the Canon C100 is still amazing. Working with the Compact Prime Lenses was uncomplicated. The Magnifier Button, which operates also during recording is an amazing tool. The form factor of the C100 is very handy and you are able to make your shots in a quick and comfortable way.

  19. This question is ultimately for a lens to pair with my anamorphic lenses, but it applies to non-anamorphic shooters as well so I have posted it outside of the anamorphic forum.   Looking at adapters, it appears the shortest flange distances (and thus, adapters) are C-mount, Contax, M39, and Pen F in roughly that order.   My only criteria is that the lens would need to be at the very least 45mm (maximum 85mm), and with a non-rotating front -- you'll see that this eliminates most "pancake" lenses.   The M39 Industar 50 (50mm f/3.5) and Contax Zeiss Tessar 45mm f/2.8 look like good options, but I'd like to start a discussion and see if anyone knows of any other good options.
  20. This is my short film 'Light' I've been making over the last month using a Canon 600d with Pentax lenses.   http://vimeo.com/69428988   It's a short (90 second) simple story about a lighthouse getting through the night, and features lots of experiments in cinematography - all done on my kitchen table with reversed and macro lenses and a lot of ice!   We used a Canon 600D (with Pentax adapter for my lenses) for the film itself as the manual control on this camera, the full HD digital zoom ability and swivel screen made it very useful for those tiny close ups! The film is all shot "live" in 25 frames per second, it's not animated.   We used a Pentax-A 50mm f1.2 and a Sigma 24mm superwide II f2.8 mounted in reverse for super-close ups, and a Pentax-A 100mm f4 macro for the widest shots - none of which had an area bigger than, say, a post-it note - and some of the extreme close ups were over an area the size of a fingernail or smaller at around 2:1 to 4:1 scale. For the reversed lenses we used a Canon to Pentax adapter, then a Pentax reversing ring (52mm filter thread for both lenses), then the lens! Note, if you want to use a lens in reverse for close ups you need to use one with an aperture ring, which means most modern digital lenses won't give you any aperture control.   We needed a lot of light for shooting down to f16 at 1/50 at ISO 160 in extreme macro where you get several more stops of light falloff, and so we had a big hot 800W light. For some shots it was around a foot (30 cm) from the ice, causing severe melting problems! So we needed to be fast and accurate with focus to a millimetre level on a disintegrating, slippery set all of which was too small to position without completely ruining composition! Most of the time it was a fun challenge but was occasionally frustrating!   The ice variety was achieved by chipping it in different ways, letting it melt for different times, freezing larger volumes of water (mug sized) and smashing the ice with a hammer to get particularly clear stuff, or ice cube size to get the cloudier stuff. Some of it had a small amount of blue food colouring too.   We edited in Premiere Pro CS6 and After Effects CS6, where we added the lighthouse light and did a little colour correction.   The film was made for the Depict short film competition in the UK. I hope you like the film, happy to explain any techniques and looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
  21. https://vimeo.com/67606128 A summer day in a boring small town in the mid 90's.   This is my latest short film, and more or less the first narrative short I've done.   There are some minor dialog in Swedish, but you probably won't miss out if you don't understand. The story is mostly told with visuals.   It was shot on a Panasonic Lumix GH2 with the "SANITY" hack.   Shot on the following glass: Panasonic 14mm f2.5 Pancake Panasonic 14-140mm f/4-5.8 kit lens Helios 44M 58mm f2 Vivitar 28mm f2.5 Fujian 35mm f1.7 C Mount CCTV Lens from ebay   Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Color Grading in After Effects.

  23. http://i.imgur.com/7SnNqob.png   The new poster for my upcoming short just got finished, linked above. What do you guys make of it? It's mainly to advertise the facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/PassingByShortFilm).   Any tips for where to put it and where best to advertise a short film?   Apologies if I broke any forum rules, I know it's not strictly footage.
