  1. Hi all! I'm sharing with you a moody film I did during a short trip in Berlin from last june. Don't worry you will not be drawned under a ton of crazy trendy transitions. Just let the video takes you through History with a big H. This city is so inspiring. Feel free to ask me about the workflow. some technicals specs : Shot with a canon 5D MK III 1920x872 @24fps with crop_rec_4k.2018Jul22.5D3113 edit and color corrected with davinci resolve 15 (by the way thank a lot Andrew Reid for taking the time to create your books, I purchased them a while ago, and even if was using before ML, they offered a good help earlier on the year.)
  2. Hey folks. Last year I travelled to Sri Lanka for four weeks, hopping about the place and pulling all kinds of strange poses in the name of having a totally not relaxing vacation. But it's what happens, I guess. I edited together all the footage I collected and I'd love to hear any kind of feedback you might have. In hindsight, I wish I'd collected more footage, but I hope that doesn't shine through too strongly. Edit wise, I dabbled a little with the fast zooms that have become so commonplace in this genre over the past few years but wanted to restrain myself so to not go too overboard. The Watchtower of Turkey style isn't really my thing, as much as I appreciate it, but I wanted to steal a little of that energy films like this can generate. Cam wise, I used my Sony A7SII, GFILM colour profile, Canon 24-105 and an old Zeiss Jena 35mm that I absolutely love. No rigs, no stabiliser.
  3. Hi guys, I've been traveling around with my A7SII for eight months now. I started this trip in part to launch my career as a freelancer (at least when I make it back home) and also to travel a lot before life gets "real" (as I was already stuck in an office but felt it was too soon for that). This was the first piece I created when I was in Canada, and there are many to follow, but for some reason I never posted them here. Here it goes: Let me know your thoughts, Thanks for watching!
  4. It's nowhere near some of the great short movies and docu stuff you guys post here but I thought I might as well share what we're currently working on. We started Instagram-ing food photography themed stuff in 2015 with the focus that it's actually edible food (not "styled" food), a lot of booze and some traveling in between. At some point we got the idea that we also might start making clips for Instagram, especially now that you're not bound to the 15 second limit anymore. We've just now started to fill a back log of articles with he recipes for the stuff into an own website and will also create more and more moving stuff which we put on YT, also longer and more informative. Actually I would really appreciate constructive feedback. I know there's jello on some of the handheld shots (NX1 + A6300), I'm looking for better camera stabilization for the future to fix that. Also still working on better text overlays/lower thirds but I'm only using Resolve at the moment and it seems that you need AfterEffects/Fusion for that or some expensive plugin like BCC.
  5. I had a great / weird trip to Croatia last month. I was psyched to get out and film and capture some of the beautiful scenery there, but when I arrived I was kind of devoid of ideas and inspiration. I guess work, the bad kind of work, can do that to you. When I got back I had a bunch of footage, didn't really know what to do with it, how to tie it all together and decided (after watching a few Brandon Li videos on holiday with my girlfriend) to try and capture some of his energy that he creates so wonderfully with camera movement and sound design put together in post. And this arose. http://www.vimeo.com/138451703 I kind of like the finished result. It's not my favourite travel thing I've ever done though. Or, who knows. Probably now just need some distance. Any feedback is welcome as always. Oh, and Sony A7s + Cine 4 modified by Kholi (sorry Mr Reid) + 24-105mm L + a couple shots from my new Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm lens which for some reason I only used at night in slow motion. Wish i'd used it during the day.

    Tokyo city

The city of Tokyo, in all its brilliant colors and character.   https://vimeo.com/71145528
  17. https://vimeo.com/63187130   A first-person travelogue of my trip to Miami for the Ultra Music Festival. I flew out there with some friends from Vegas as a last-minute adventure.   The festival basically overtakes Miami for a couple weeks, turning the already lurid city into an EDM-fueled fever dream. My goal was to capture the surreal and seductive experience of navigating it all: glowstick playgrounds by night, bathwater beaches by day, lobster restaurants by streetlight, and the feeling that I might wake up at any moment.   Music by M83 and Helios
  18. https://vimeo.com/56781551   This nightlife events company flew me to Vegas and let me shoot whatever I wanted for a promotional video for them.   Had a pretty awesome weekend and just filmed everything as it developed.
  19. This trip cost me a GoPro. I didn't have an underwater housing and thought it could survive a couple splashes...nope. Luckily the footage survived.Awesome trip, though. We rented a Catamaran and circled the island, which is surprisingly barren outside the town of Avalon. It's about a 4 hr journey from Long Beach by boat. http://vimeo.com/47936990
