de-interlacing 50i RX100 footage to obtain 25p?

looking at the rx100 specs I see it shoots both 50i and 50p. 50p is 28mbs and 50i is 24mbs.

What post production workflow would need to be employed to convert the 50i into 25p? Is it possible?

what are the negatives and positives of this? Will 50i from the rx100, converted to 25p be the same quality as 25p on the nex5n for example?

seems strange sony didnt include 25p...

cheers in advance

Is'nt the 50i footage 25p in a interlaced wrapper (from 25p sensor output) by any chance? Then you can just treat the files as 25p, it works like that with my Panasonic GF3.

/Edit: I'm pretty sure it's just the wrapper. Downloaded some interlaced footage (60i) from here. Just loading it into a 30p project works fine.
