Arctic-Tern
Hi All, Has anyone out there had any problems with banding/blocking occasionally on blue skies with the C300? I have encountered this a couple of times and wondered if this is an inherent problem with this particular camera/codec. It would be great to hear anyone else's experiences. Many thanks earnesync
filmmaker
Same problem. Otherwise really like the camera. Any work arounds / solutions to this?
Bruno
There's something I learned from back when I used to work in print. Most gradients would have some sort of banding when printed, even perfect computer generated ones, and the solution to that problem was to add a bit of noise to the images. You could try adding film grain, you can find authentic 35mm film scans free on the internet, that you can overlay on top of your footage, and it will probably help disguising the banding issues. jgharding
jgharding
Seconded, try Grain 35 or FilmConvert for starters. Great ways to make your footage look film-like and remove unwanted banding. Like an organic version of "dithering".
FilmMan
At times, it exists with the 1DC too. Masking and blurring can be a possible solution.
