In this thread there's a guy that owns (or owned) an SI-2K and named that same price, but also said he saw the older models being sold a $4000 on eBay. I can't find any being sold right now.
Anyway, I was just curious.
I want the BMCC, really, though we have to wait, and I wanted to mention: if it had Cineform RAW as a recording format it would indeed be GREAT.

You also need a quality lens adapter unless you have a bunch of $10K PL lenses sitting around, right?

I called a local rental store they have all of the zeiss cp primes for 80usd a day.
If you take them for a week they only charge you 4 days.
The nikon mount is 500usd and I do not own a single nikon lens.
So seems best to me to rent the zeiss pl instead of buying the mount and renting nikon lenses.

If you're worried about weight & the possibilities of mounting on your shoulder (in the future if you run out of budget), then check this article out - by a Hollywood DP (his whole blog is very informative).

Think it covers the basics.

looks good - will only sell to North America -
I think the Red One prices are going to drop second hand dramatically now Red have dropped their price.
More and more whole rigs like this will start to appear on ebay as people upgrade to Epic now its so much cheaper.

With 6k you could also shoot an entire short film with decent production values, if you rent the equipment.
What do you want to have after you spend your money, a film or a camera?

very interesting argument
But considering the new price I will take the camera.

I recently finished a video interview assignment that would have payed off at least the body entirely.
A couple assignments and your cinema camera is payed off, that is something to consider.

It's not 25k anymore, with the current price it makes more sense to me to buy than rent, at the moment on a couple days shoot you will pay more in rental than the cams sale worth.
