Do you have a DNG of that frame above so I can test?

It is only a streaming version available on Vimeo. This 'black sun' effect blinks couple of times in this part of the video. Interesting! One of Canon EOS cameras had same problem. 5D Mark II, I guess.

Note for low budget people, the canon 5d3 will retain 80% of its resale value for the next 4 to 5 years. There is a huge "still camera" canon user base for resale. Before the 5d3 came out, a 4 year old 5d2 was selling at 80% of its orginal price, so smart users used the camera for 4 years for $400 - $100 a year.  The Blackmagic, as a speciality camera, will have very little resale value the day the next best thing comes out.

Canon Mark 5d3 is less than a year old.  Came out around $3600.  Being sold for as low as $2600.  These are different times.  The 5D2 initially didn't have competition.  The 5D3 does.

THey are retailing for 2900 now, used they still go for 2600. That deal lasted for less than a day unfortunately.

Looks like Apple is going to acquire some Kodak digital imaging patents. It's probably just for their phones, but you never know. It'd be interesting to see them enter the digital cinema market.

Or they could acquire Black Magic, and straighten out their supply chain issues. You gotta figure BM is feeling overwhelmed right now.

BM has got nothing to lose.  the sensor to begin doesn't even fit with standard protocols.  this doesn't mean it's not effective, it's just not realistic in the real pro cinema market.  television?  sure.  it's flexibility fits in.  but in the real world shootings go 24/7 and every joe wants to make money and move on.  the high premium prices for the big cams have no effect in the pro arena.  not one bit.  this is why this forum is cute with all its theories about what tech dies and what not.  it's sad that many feed on "RAW" marketing gimmicks.  people forget to realize it's just marketing at different strokes to compensate alternative costs vs. 4:4:4.

You can still do stuff like this with a Canon 7d

That was very beautiful. But of course credit goes to the filmmaker, not the camera. Great storytelling and camera work. Makes me want to go out and shoot with whatever I get a hold of. And that should be the case for everyone.
