chetacallahan
Hi guys! I had newbie crunch for breakfast and then bought the anamorphic guide and read through it.I then ordered a setup recommended in it but need to know which clamp to buy as I am somewhat unclear still as to how the mounting works.I purchased a Lomo 35mm Oct19 2x anamorphic lensand a Canon Fd 35mm F/2 SSC recommended for the lomo 35 in the guideI will be using my new GH3 (once Panasonic ships it to me!)so i purchased the Fd to M4/3 adapter to mount the fd but my question is how do i mount the lomo to the canon? I read about the clamps in the guide but which size do I get?I asked google first but kept drawing blanks, all help is appreciated! whoops!! now that i look at it i think i was a bit naive in ordering ( though it appeared to be anamorphic i think the one i bid on is actually in fact no anamorphic!!) fml
chetacallahan
or should i just be mounting my anamorphic to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/OCT19-OCT-19-OST-Konvas-Lomo-OKC-OKS-anamorphic-to-GH2-AF100-AF101-adapter-/251054129457?pt=US_Lens_Adapters_Mounts_Tubes&hash=item3a73fe0131 and then to my camera? QuickHitRecord
I purchased a Lomo 35mm Oct19 2x anamorphic lens
These lenses are a monobloc design so no additional taking lens is necessary. They are beautiful lenses that are going for $4k to $6k at the moment, out of reach of most newbie crunchers (myself included). Are you sure that this is what you ordered?
chetacallahan
Hm, perhaps i bid on the wrong lens, It states Lomo 35mm konvas Oct-19 Okc8-35-1 is this not the correct lens? "fingers crossed" haha EDIT thanks so much for mentioning how much they usually go for, looks like i ordered a non anomorphic version, hopefully its not too late to cancel! Administrators Andrew Reid Posted November 24, 2012 Administrators Share Posted November 24, 2012 You have a normal lens (gives similar image to Canon EF 35mm F2 on Amazon). Not an anamorphic lens. Did you get my anamorphic shooter's guide? Would have saved you some money :)
chetacallahan
I did purchase it :) and read through it but obviously not all of it sunk in haha, i saw a few particular points of the lens such as Lomo 35mm Oct19 (failed to look for anamorphic ironically) and when looking at the lens it appeared as though it had curved glass so i assumed, seeing as how it was coming from russia the description wasnt too detailed but I assumed it was correct! Facepalm! However! I was able to cancel the order and orderd a Kowa 2x anamorphic Bell and Howell lens which should be here soon :) It is coming with a Nikon 50mm 1.8 but I am looking for a different lens to attach it to my camera with. I have some old m42 lenses but I dont believe the threads on the front of the lens are in good enough shape to mount a step ring to. Any other suggestions for primes for this setup? Thanks! brucker
you want clamps from redstan.com in before anyone else! :D dude goes by the name tony wilson on this forum. most people screw said clamps onto the taking lens, and then mount the anamorphic in the clamp. i havent used them myself but i've just ordered some, and there are loads of testimonials all over this forum about their quality. as far as lenses, have a look at some russian lenses helios 44, mir-1v, nice and have a real cinematic feel,.. pentax takumars have a slightly cleaner more modern look,... comes down to taste really. happy anamorphic-ing!
