Alex Moreán
Hi guys!I have been googling this for some time with no results, so I will directly ask: to what point is the camera hot is durable enough to attach handles to it?(Picture)I was thinking of getting one of these to an A7SII for documentary run and gun, but I have some concerns it might introduce some leverage stress to the body and end up breaking. The heaviest lens I have is the Sony 24-70... The rest of them are just old nikon pancakes and such.Any thoughts?
Don Kotlos
I would guess that it should be fine for the occasional handling during a shot.Extensive usage with heavy lenses (probably not you 24-70) could loosen it and any impact might cause damage.Unfortunately it's hard to know exactly how much it can handle since it's not very common to put all that stress there. Most frequently flashes are mounted and upon impact they are the ones to break first.
The Chris
I ran a RedRock Micro top handle kit on my 5d3 all the time and I do the same with a single handle like the OP's pic on the A7rII. If there's any real concern, just get a small cage.
Alex Moreán
Thanks matesBeing all metal and actually pretty light (just above 1Kg with the 24-70) I wouldn't anticipate any issue as long as the handle itself doesn't detach during shooting...Cheers!
