kidzrevil
I'm sure there has been plenty of threads about this (I can't seem to find them) but I am currently looking for an application that can take h.265 files and convert them to 10bit 4444 prores or cineform files. Anyone know of any good ones ?

Phil A
I tried it before and didn't know how to use it, i'll give it another shot It's super easy, just make sure you download the right installer for your system.Drag the footage into the window, choose your desired codec, resolution, etc. and let it run. I use it to transcode the NX1 4k H.265 to ProRes HQ 422 and it works really nice. kidzrevil
Geoff CB
Cliptoolz is the best for this, no fuss. Rocky mountain has good conversion, but cliptoolz is just as good and faster on my system, and has a wider range of options and codec settings. It also easily does the 444 with both UHD and 4K footage. Phil A and kidzrevil
kidzrevil
Thanks alot guys ! Do you feel as if the files grade better after you convert to 10 bit prores ?
Phil A
I use Davinci Resolve so it's more about being able to grade them at all. I guess Resolve user will be stuck without H.265 support for at least some more months (except for Resolve Studio on Mac).
kidzrevil
It just dawned on me. Isn't pro res 16-235 ? Would it be better to shoot in 16-235 if you have to convert to pro res ?

Editready on Mac does not, with that program it is better to shoot in 16-235. kidzrevil

I see rocky mountains lets you add a lut to the conversion, that sounds VERY promising
