DanC1
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experience with 16mm film cameras and anamorphic projector lens. I am thinking Krasnogorsk 3 and Sankor 16C. At what point will this vignette? Thsnks!
ken
I think that might be second widest to 16h in below $500 lenses. But need to use small diameter prime lens.
Gabriel Copoeru
Probably it will vignette bellow 28mm or so. If you have the M42 mount version Krasnogorsk, you should use M42 lenses, as the Meteor zoom will throw the anamorphic alignment off. DanC1
Great thanks guys, do you think it will work well with the Helios? Also I'm trying to work out what the final aspect ratio would be on super 16? The same as the bmpcc I'm guessing? 12 hours ago, ken said: I think that might be second widest to 16h in below $500 lenses. But need to use small diameter prime lens. Hi Ken, thanks for the reply but I'm not quite sure what you mean? Cheers Dan

Cheers Dan Wider means less vignetting for using the same prime lens. I still own it. It has similar size as 16F. But shorter, and have bigger front glass. So it could be used on wider taking lens. So I just simply said it is wider. DanC1
Gabriel Copoeru
Dan, the Helios is fine. I personally like to pair my Sankor 16F to Mir-1B 37mm f2.8. The Mir has a long focus through and it is easier to match them for sharp focus. I would suggest getting hold of one, as the Helios is, I think, triple the focal distance on 16mm film. I shot this video using a Sankor - Mir combo (no diopters, filters or any sharpening in post added):
DanC1
Thanks, that lens looks good and definitley worth a try for the price. With the cost of film I'm a bit reluctant to experiment to much ?. How did you crop for that aspect ratio?
Gabriel Copoeru
I just created a 2560x1080 sequence in premiere, then stretched the width of the footage by 1.8x-2x, depending on circumstance (as you know, some 2x anamorphic lenses are not even in all the focus range)
