jcoons32
I have a Fiio E6 headphone amplifier that I plug my lav mic into, and then right into the camera. It's basically the equivalent of the "+20dB" switch on the back of the VMP. I'm not sure if it would work with the VMP, but it provides drastically better results for my Audio Technica $30 lav mic. I know it's not the most common setup, but when you're on a budget like mine, you have to get creative. Oh, and it costs about $20.
Shynn
no idea if u still need this, but i managed to minimal hissing sound for my setup - omd em1 mkii and rode stereo videomic pro. settings - +20db on mic. for camera - recording volume all the way down on both the camera and external mic, and turn everything to off. i notice clear sounds and no hissing (or maybe minimal) with this setting. hope it helps
RobD
I've had to remove the hiss in Adobe Audition.
Marcio Kabke Pinheiro
Only used external mic on E-M5 II one or two times in the brief period that I had one, and remember that the preamps are noisy as hell... Maybe you could try to record the audio in a very quiet environment, to have only the hiss recorded, analyze the hiss to see the peak frequency of it, and then reduce this frequency in post with an equalizer or filter. PCM founder
SOLVED IT!!!! Just turn on the PCM-recorder link from settings. (I kept VMP on +20db) What a struggle :D
RobD
I've had the same noise problem with the EM5 ii using Sennheiser wireless mics. I removed the hiss/hum in Adobe audition! Check out tutorials on taken a noise print/ sample in a quiet area (no dialogue), and then removing that noise through out video. This works well.
