Jaime Valles
Hi, all! I just got my new 1DX Mark II, and I would like to use a cage with it for video shoots where I'm attaching a monitor, audio recorder and wireless receivers to it. Any recommendations? Ideally, it would keep the camera from twisting for use with follow focus units. Also, I'm looking for inexpensive if at all possible (I already spent a bunch on the camera itself!) Thanks! I use the wooden camera dslr cage for my 1dc and love it. Smallrig makes one that's really similar but a lot cheaper. All you need to do is get a 15mm rod to replace the small one this comes with. If so, that's a hell of a deal! Dave Maze

If so, that's a hell of a deal! Exactly. That little side rail thing can be replaced with any 15mm rod. So just measure the length of what you need and buy that rail on Amazon. I did the same for my 1dc and wooden camera cage. Just used a spare 15mm rod for that side rail. Also I'd get the handle they make too with it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B7I25AQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bvoKxb552XB22 youll need a nato rail to mount it on the cage: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EVG3M68/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MwoKxbESQK7VR
Jaime Valles
Awesome. Does that rig keep the camera from twisting inside the cage? Dave Maze

Luke Mason
Movcam makes a 1DC cage as well, it's much cheaper and it is the only one that uses the locating pin hole underneath the 1DC to eliminate twisting.

Yes you can take the battery out. Having the top of the cage screwed into the hot shoe prevents it from twisting. 4 hours ago, Luke Mason said: Movcam makes a 1DC cage as well, it's much cheaper and it is the only one that uses the locating pin hole underneath the 1DC to eliminate twisting. Where do you go to buy that? I can't find it anywhere for sale in USA.
