Canon XC15

I'll be surprised if the XC15 replaces the XC10.  If the photos are legit, then there's a XLR input but probably no HD-SDI that I can see.  I would think if they had added a new sensor with DPAF it would be an XC20 but we will see. However, photokina seems a strange time to release a new professional camcorder so I imagine it will be released at IBC.

I agree that the lens is much better than reported -I too would not want to give up the size, range, IS and parfocalness for a constant 2.8.

Maybe the XC10 is selling better than we know.  When I brought mine the store mentioned that Canon had said to them that they had been moving quite a few recently, maybe the news guys are seeing a role and the XLR will help cement this.

Im with you on all that. XC15 will probably be to the XC10 what the XA35 is to the XA30 (Or xf200/xf205).

Also believe IBC makes more sense.

By day's end I will own 3 cameras... The XC10, the GX85, and 50D for ML Raw. Well I'll actually own 4 because I haven't sold my BMMCC yet, but that will be listed by next week. But anyway my point is, if I need a reliable camera that can be used in any possible situation, even shallow depth if I frame my shots accordingly, I'll reach for the XC10 every time. It's that good. Sure I would love a constant f/2.8 or and f/2 - f/2.8 but not at any cost of losing what the camera already has. The only real improvement they could do to the lens that would make me consider an upgrade at this point is the focus ring, but Push AF works so well, even then I would only pay a little more than what I paid for the XC10. The biggest feature I would upgrade for is 5-Axis in 4K. And I would probably pay 500 more for it... That's how good their 5-Axis is. The 1080 is as good as the 4K downscaled from the G7. The camera is clean at f4 easily up to 1600 ISO in Wide DR. It's just a fun camera to use, where you can expect professional results every time.

Indy filmmakers, porno, blocked shots is different. But that's not what we are talking about here.

It is not what we're talking about here??? Darn. Darn.

Though most porn I ahh... "research", would be a massive leap in quality if they used an XC10 instead!

STILL that stupid rotating handle without a lock?

STILL that easy-to-break plastic lens without constant aperture?

STILL that loose zoom lens which will slide back when being put upside down?

STILL that narrow gap between the handle and body?

STILL that  top microphone which  capture the rain drops and your spit instead of the sound in front of you ?

Sorry,I just can't help laughing about it~

STILL the same camera which is very sad but you are being too harsh on the original

Handle never rotates accidentally and I've shot a LOT with it so should know

Easy to break plastic lens? Nah, it's very robust as is the whole camera

The zoom does fall out on a drone and the gap between handle and body IS to narrow for sure, that I agree with you on.

Very common to have mic on top of the camera

Look at the positives... superb stabilisation, superb 1080p, best codec on the market for the price, it is like a mini C300 Mark II, ergonomics can be very satisfying

Something that priced more than $2000 is still plastic body ?

Even a  $500 mirrorless is metal body

I don't know that superb stabilisation

Is it better than the 5-axis ?

Andrew, just one question, can the XC10 be used in a steadicam?, or is it not designed for that?

I thought that but why have 1 XLR jack... Needs 2

I would by happier with one than two if I can still use the 3.5mm. One for ambient and one for shotgun/lav.

Never happened to me and I always hold my camera upside down between shots. On drones maybe.

I think that may be for a C100 type shoe connector with XLR ports.

I was thinking that exact same thing. If you look at the top-down image of the leaked photos, you'll see that the accessory shoe on top is not a hot-shoe for attaching a flash like the original XC10 has, it's a cold shoe with a screw hole, just like the C100 mkII has for mounting the XLR handle.

The first image attached is the leaked XC15 and below that is the same angle on the XC10.

Use better mic with more robust connection, lower noise floor, and put it on both channels. I think I recall the camera was seen as a news shooter---and XLR attachment for better sound would make a lot of sense for news gathering and quick interviews....maybe??!?
