An 8mpx or 12mpx with a 28-100mm or 35-85mm f1.4 i'd cry tears of joy

Yes. Sometimes you need a specific tool to do a specific job. I've even considered using medium format for reasons such as this. I don't like to use extreme DOF, but it's often needed to create a decent esthetic in an ugly setting. Also, if you're a shooter that does a lot of productions with "talking-heads," large sensors makes the job much much easier.

kidzrevil
@fuzzynormal @Ivanhurba I use my NX1 for the shallow DOF shots but the RX10 at 100mm and up can give you shallow dof. Its really all in how you compose the shot

If that's the look you want or need for certain somethings, you have to yield to the laws of physics. Mostly, like you, I don't worry about it too much. Other times it's the best option. The Pana lens fares v/poorly, unless he mis-focussed, probably unlikely. http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_FZ2000/outdoor_resolution.shtml Pretty bad performance on the Panny. Bad copy, who knows?
JurijTurnsek
So, Sony has a better lens, but Panasonic still has loads going for it. Hopefully, Sony can copy at least some of it for their next release.
