wolf33d
This is mechanical. Not every OEM is a joker like Canon when it comes to specs... EOSM5 is a pure shit compared to this A6500.
Henry Gentles
All their 4K Cameras overheat BADLY, if this one doesn't they would have announced that by now by saying something like 'improved heat dissipation' etc but nothing which means it's totally unreliable for professional video! Haven't seen many reports of overheating on the A6300 since the new firmware came out, to be honest. Don't know about the other bodies.
Nodnarb
The rolling shutter on the a6300 is just awful. I really hope there has been some improvement on the a6500.

Regardless, you fail to realise that the A6300 has only been on the market barely eight months - and even then, much of those eight months were spent in back-order due to the Kumamoto earthquake. There is no consistency in this new model's release date whatsoever. For Sony to release a superior successor so soon is somewhat arbitrary and irrational. Not when the GH5 is about to come out with its superior specs. It makes perfect sense to get some more sales in while they can. Its essentially the same camera as the 6300 with upgrades which explains how they managed it so quickly. The added ibis makes people think twice about getting the G85 and GX85 too. The price pushes it too close to full frame for my comfort though. IronFilm
Samin
its too expensive! and how do we know it wouldn't overheat! (of curse we won't, we shall wait and see!)

The A7s II and A7r II are double the price (3450€ in Germany), the Canon 5D IV even more. It's kinda harsh how much more expensive it is in Europe though. 1700€ vs 1400$

Maybe im comparing the 6500 price in euros to the A7x prices in dollars. Either way its certainly not as budget friendly as the G85. And underspeced compared to the GH5. IronFilm
Wow, that was a very quick cycle (even for Sony!) of: a6000 => a6300 => a6500 2 hours ago, Phil A said: Sounds like an A6300 with IBIS and Touch Screen Sweeeeeeeet, that is the most important thing! The GH5 is at least half a year away, which in the camera business is a long time. You won't know what the scene will be like at that time. And if other companies are playing the same game as Panasonic (pre-announcing cameras) then there will always be something better on the horizon. Not in the next 4 years, nevermind half a year. The FS7 doesnt even have 10bit 4k. Regardless of how long the GH5 will take I think the fact that it's comming is why sony have released this upgrade so soon. I mean lets face it, they could have waited another year and then called it the A6300 mkii.

I'm not too bothered! :-D Have sworn not to spend any more on cameras this year, no matter how tempting it is. Instead any money I spend will be exclusively focused on audio gear, just a few minutes ago I made a purchase from B&H (incredible how easy it is to spend over a hundred bucks on a few odd bits and pieces here or there....): Ok I admit that BNC cable though is camera gear.... oops, my bad! But I've been wanting that coiled cable type since forever ago to use with my F3 to Atomos recorder. Ordered a handful of other audio gear tonight from ebay as well, all these little costs add up :-/ It isn't just the big expenses (like a Sound Devices recorder) that kills you, but the death from a thousand paper cuts of all the other little things you need. In the midst of an email order with Oscar SoundTech about buying a few of their lavs, poof... that will make a few more hundreds of dollars disappear! http://www.oscarsoundtech.com/services.html 11 minutes ago, MattH said: I cant see sony going 10 bit with 4k in stills cams. mike_tee_vee
This makes the E-M1 mkII's rumored price of $2,000+ look even more outrageous. The pricing of the new m4/3 flagships need to come back to earth.
