Kisaha
Left and right, communism, capitalism, socialism, -isms, are words of the past. We try to answer to new problems with old news. People demanding Trump dead, and violently protesting against the elected President, is just stupid, and same as the worst of the Trump words. We have to.completely change our ways of thinking, it takes a lot of knowledge and spherical education to be a complete human being. 2 centuries ago and for almost 1500years, you just needed to read the Bible, and that was it, nowdays, my proposal is to read Sagan, Richard Dawkins, political science, tech books, all the human knowledge and history points to one think, altruism, without that, we are doomed, and nothing is forever, do not forget, dinosaurs were the dominant species almost an eon(!) more than us, to achieve something, and go somewhere, we need all the human race to work for something, now, closing the borders, and our minds, just waiting for the inevitable to happen. Talking about Trump, and.Clinton, and socialism, amd racism, we are missing the point, and that isbthe saddest part. We do not have a clue, and the time is clicking against us. I agree with you. 12 hours ago, mercer said: I'm sorry this is so stupid, I don't even know where to begin. Love him or hate him, he received the worst media bias against him than any previous nominee in recent history. Before he was democratically elected, Hitler hung a sign at the wall in his office (the one with the helium-filled globe, you know) reading It's the media, stupid! - He as well had received harsh comments in contemporary newspapers, but if it wasn't him who coined the phrase there is no bad publicity, he could very well have been. Later on he famously gave a Volksempfänger (literally people's receiver) to every household to tell (almost bark) his strong opinions on the corrupt establishment, Mexicans and Obamacare to the, er, world. Wasn't the worst design, you have to admit. Other radio receivers of the period, unaffordable for the masses, looked like cuckoo clocks, this one almost has the elegance of an iPod ... majoraxis
Clinton Cash is the type of documentary that, at the end you read the credits and find out that they wind up in prison. The ending is not yet written, so they may get pardoned. We got lucky as to not have this level of coruption headed to the White House. jgharding
Richard Bugg
I think the relationship between DT and the media is an interesting one. His complaints about unfair treatment, I suspect, were simply to reinforce his message that he was an outsider. In other words, his crafty use of the media and claims of bias fed neatly into his overall narrative of DT fighting the establishment. A brilliant and cynical manipulation that still has people arguing that the media is the problem. He will use the media in any way that suits him, and he is just as dependent upon it as the next promoter.

I saw this film before, and I believe the general accusations it makes. How can you be so naive, or even blind, to believe that Trump will be the Heracles who cleans the Augean stables? He is the "fox in charge of the hen house" (had to look this phrase up, hope it makes sense in the context). Isn't that obvious? That Trump is the one to make America great again (as if it had been uninfluential before), is absolutely absurd. Imagine he stays eight years, and you could visit his TRUMPWORLD (like Disneyworld) then. Do you really think you would enjoy that ride? What in his biography or which of his words makes you believe that? 38 minutes ago, Richard Bugg said: A brilliant and cynical manipulation that still has people arguing that the media is the problem. I think that's confusing the root of the problem with the soil that embeds it. If people were not so shockingly dumb to be entertained by this BS and believe it, those embarrassing soap characters never had a chance to get public attention. Did you ever hear Trump say: It's the education, stupid! We have to improve our school system, our universities. Our white trash will never be able to compete with chinese workers on the global job market (or with illegal immigrants in our own country), not because they can't live of two dollars daily wages here, but because they are not qualified for anything. ??? Snowfun
Is it easier to "blame the media" rather than face the reality that it was the American people who wanted (and voted for) Trump to lead their nation? How long ago was it that we were rallying to bring down the Saadawi empire? Or criticise Zach for his off-topic ramblings? All good fun! Jimmy
The problem with the idea of creating our own political content is to remain truly independent and not just push our own agendas, which then feed to our friends and connections with similar agendas, creating an echo chamber. If you can't empathise with the people you think are wrong/not well informed, you have no chance of reaching them. tugela
17 hours ago, dhessel said: The reason why Trump won is because Hillary Clinton and the democratic party tried to force their will on the American public. They stacked the deck against Bernie Sanders and basically cheated him out of the nomination. They then continued to use all of their connections to try and stack the deck against Trump- getting debate questions beforehand, getting sent articles and news reports for editing from the media, etc... If it had not been for wikileaks exposing all of this we probably never would have none what they were trying to do. The DNC, Clinton, and their connections int the media tried to supplant Clinton as president. It wasn't about what the people wanted it was about what they wanted. In doing so they had a canidate who is one of the most corrupt and hated polititans out there. Looking for someone to protest, someone to blame, look no further than the Democratic party. They tried to force Hillary on us, they failed and this is the result. The reason Bernie Sanders lost the nomination is because he did not get enough votes. Clinton beat him among actual democrats in votes by quite a big margin. People forget that. The only reason Sanders was competitive at all was because he got most of the votes from the independents (= republicans) voting in open primaries, and most of the caucus states which heavily favor activists. If the nomination contests had been limited to closed primaries only Sanders would have been crushed in the vote. If Sanders had been the Democrat candidate he would have been crushed in the general election. He would have been portrayed as a socialist with policies that would inhibit growth, and that would have been enough to persuade middle class moderates to hold their noses and vote for Trump. Sander's message might sell well on the left, much like Cruz's message would sell on the right, but both of them would not have been able to persuade the center. The only candidates who stood a chance of wining the general election were Clinton on the Democratic side, and Trump/Kasich/Bush/Rubio on the Republican side, because they were the ones who could hold the center as well as the opposing wing of their party. The reason Trump won in spite of the things he said was because he was successful in demeaning Clinton to the extent that many people did not vote. His supporters on the other hand were highly motivated, so they showed up. The election had one of the lowest turnouts in quite a while. Even though they were the minority, the differential was sufficiently large for him to win, and that was their actual strategy (crazy as it might appear on the surface). 1 minute ago, dahlfors said: This is why every democracy should strive towards having an excellent public education for everyone. Yes, probably because Hillary Clinton got the most votes. We just made it through a fact free election. Let's at least try to start looking at facts now. It's the least we can do. I am not letting certain Americans off the hook. The media wasn't perfect but millions of people definitely had a fertile mind for what Trump was selling. Even if Trump lost which could have happened easily I would have been disturbed that he got so far. As content creators we have to live in reality. We have to be realistic about who our audience is. For years I've watched Oscar winning movies and left scratching my head wondering who these movies are for. A movie like "Birdman" is not going to be a hit with your average Trump voter. What I find so amusing about Jonesy Jones' convoluted logic about Trump's campaign lies is the thesis that he puts forth that it was all just metaphors and only people without a college degree could understand them. That is the best elitist position I've ever heard. I don't know where I fit in. I think movies like "Birdman" are trying too hard to be edgy and apparently I am too educated to comprehend the deep meaning in Trump's Shakespearean metaphors... according to Jones. Or maybe Trump is just a politician and like all politicians he promises you the sun moon and stars and once in office stars making excuses and blaming others.
