shadowrun
Hi I need a camera for short films / advertisements / commercials / music videos etc ... I'm thinking about: Sony A7S II + Shogun. Sony FS5 + Shogun. Is this a good choice ?! Maybe something else? I care about the most image quality! I would like to create such films: https://vimeo.com/143211613 Sorry for my English, and I ask for help, Regards Robert
IronFilm
Why something as expensive as an FS5? Seems you've got limited experience? If so start out with something more basic and cheaper to learn on first, that is still very capable and good: http://ironfilm.co.nz/a-priced-out-gear-kit-for-a-newbie-to-filmmaking-using-the-panasonic-gh2/
shadowrun
I have experience and certainly will not be pushed in GH2 ... (this is old equipment) hard for me to choose a good camera ... DLSR or CAMCORDER? I'm afraid the DSLR: - No ND filter - Bad rolling shutter etc ... I want to spend - once and for all would not regret it! Can someone help? Kisaha
If you want to spend, buy the C300mkII or the new Sony FS7mkII.
Liam
This was shot on a gh2, so I would think it's still capable If you want internal NDs, good rolling shutter, or more than 8 bit, the a7sii can't be your choice. Not sure how much good a shogun would do on it either. Ls300? Fs5? C100ii? The blackmagic pocket camera is less user friendly, but the best out of all of these for image quality. a lot of options, hard to say which is best. Do you have more requirements to list? 4k? Raw? Log? high frame rates?
shadowrun
Hi my budget is 7500$ ... mercer
Idk, if I had that kind of money and needed/wanted 4K, I would probably go with one of the Blackmagic Cameras... probably the BM 4K Production camera... or maybe the new Terra and then I would put the rest of my camera budget into my short/feature production budget because you'll always need more... or maybe even rent the camera for the narrative and commercial work and then buy a C100ii for your bread and butter work. But to be honest, if you can't make a good narrative short on the C100ii, you probably can't make a good short. Have you considered 5D mk iii ml raw for a short? Honestly one of the most beautiful images I have ever seen. Geoff CB
Geoff CB
FS5 if you need 4K, use Shogun to get 10-bit compressed version of the raw stream. Main option unless you go $10,000+ for a complete package. SebRoss
