MOONGOAT
I imagine this is probably old news to a few of you, but the results are still quite surprising. You really don't know what kind of noise performance you're getting until you do the tests. The results may vary from camera to camera and with different hacks, but it's enough to open your eyes. The most surprising find for me was the excellent performance at ISO 1250 and the terrible performance at 250 and 320. I recommend downloading the original file from Vimeo, but if you're going to stream it watch at 1080 on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysdLkwugGjU https://vimeo.com/59990707
QuickHitRecord
Interesting. I did a similar test a while back (also with Flowmotion 2.02), but got completely different results: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/1299-gh2-iso-tests-rethinking-the-iso-bug-iso-320-cleaner-than-iso-160/ Grabs (click for larger view): Did you account for the ISO bug when you shot yours? MOONGOAT
I did account for the bug. Although I should have included my profile settings. It was Nostalgic with everything at -2. At a glance it doesn't look that different from my results. 200, 320 and 400 seem exactly the same. 250 and 500 ridiculously unusable. Edit: Ahhh I just found your thread lol. Probably would have been easier to link to it instead. Ohwell!
/p/
I'd like to see one of these done with a GH3.
QuickHitRecord
Edit: Ahhh I just found your thread lol. Probably would have been easier to link to it instead. Ohwell! Good point. I have included the link. But like you said, it's important to run tests on your own camera because sometimes for inexplicable reasons the results can be different. Francisco Rios
I think these happend in others cameras too like 5d mark II. http://photocascadia.wordpress.com/2011/05/13/canon-eos-5d-mark-ii-iso-noise-test/ It's something about native iso and multiple on 5d. Maybe isn't a bug ...others cameras has the same issues. So stick with GH2 on 100-200-400-640-800-1250.... Cheers!
Mirrorkisser
Hmm maybe i have to try that aswell. I always had very good results at 320, at least i thought so. Maybe its hack related aswell?
