An 1800 mm T1.3 lens perhaps?…I had no clue. "We’re back in the Anamorphic Lens business,†he said.[/quote] Modern Zeiss anamorphic lenses will be available for purchase or rental and if they are priced in line with the rest of the CP series, they should be widely available, unlike the current anamorphic offerings on the market. Could these new Zeiss lenses cause renewed demand among lower-end consumers shooters for anamorphic images (a la wedding videographers) Who knows? We'll have to wait and see. Anamorphic lenses need some telltale flare, hopefully these lenses will flare similarly to Panavision C series or Hawk V-lite lenses, which have arguably the most beautiful flares of any anamorphic lenses available. Flares are subjective, but hopefully they won't overdo it like some of the old Lomo or Cineovision anamorphics.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted December 9, 2011 Administrators Share Posted December 9, 2011 Fantastic news. These will be for the new Alexa Studio probably. Bring on the consumer lenses and camera modes next... 16:9 just isn't cinema!

alanpoiuyt
Hey Andrew - A little off topic but I have to thank you for the inspiration your blog has provided me in the past few months. Your review of the Sony HX9V led me to purchase this fun and powerful little point and shoot. Your Zen piece got me into Lana Del Rey - a truly global hook-up - Shanghai - Berlin - back to LA. I've been messing with Optical Flow in Apple Motion and found that the1080 60p of the HX9V is pretty conducive to extreme re-timing. Thanks for the inspiration and found the Blade Runner BTS piece really enlightening. Here's my spin on Video Games on the HX9V: http://vimeo.com/33469233
ed_lee83
I won't even dare fathom how much they'd cost. BTW, nice to have an anamorphic forum! We can showcase our videos here, yes?
