Using lenses outdoors...

So I have a bunch of low light lenses like the SLR Magic 25mm .95 and 12mm 1.6, most of my lenses have fast apertures, but when I bring them outside I can't really use them.. even with the aperture completely shut its still too much light... I ordered a neutral density filter for one of my lenses from amazon so I will try that,

but was wondering if there is any other advice? Thanks.

Use ND FIlters outside !!! you will need ND 2 , ND4 AND ND8 to cope with most conditions

I use Cokin ND filters after lots of expensive testing buying too many nd filters over the years

Cokin are the best for me

I never shoot outside with out NDs

those on that amazon link are rubbish they will soften your image they are not Genuine Cokin they are cheap copies

dont be fooled buy real cokins

0.3=nd2

0.6=nd4

0.9= nd8

read this first

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_density_filter

also do not stop right the way down on your lenses if you shoot f16 or f22 you will get random grey/dark iris shaped spots on your image in bright light  if you have the smallest spec of dust on your sensor

the nd is so you can keep at f5.6 or f8

real Cokin filters in the USA on ebay - I presume your are Yank! I'm a Brit!

real Cokins have the number and cokin in white printed on them

Nd4 and nd8 are the most useful I use them al the time
