When you click record you can still switch between the two Famings so it's no issue. Once you get the hang of it it comes natural. A really good lens for these modes is the Canon 10-18mm.

I don't have my 5D III to hand and may be missing something obvious, but how do you setup the switch between modes whilst filming?

Let’s revive this threat, shall we?  Threads seem to die in these EOSHD sub forums.

Anyone use ML RAW on a canon 70d?  Just think, pair it with a sigma 18-35 and you have a cheap raw setup with dual pixel AF!!

I'm not optimistic about it staying alive very long in here, but anyway....

Is the 18-35 a good lens for AF?  I had one on my 700D and when focusing (either PDAF in photo mode or CDAF in video) it was clunky and noisy and felt like it was made of stone-age clockwork.

Woot. Thread revived. These sub forums are just sad. They get no love anymore.

I’ve heard the one downfall of 70d ML RAW are some weird quirks with available resolutions, FPS override, etc. But it would be so interesting!  I feel like all the ML RAW cameras have unique mojo, having that mojo plus decent AF, all in a sub $400 camera, would be amazing!  I just don’t hear people use it very much. But this guy here got some BEAUTIFUL footage from it.  I don’t see a reason to use this camera for ML RAW other than the dual pixel AF though

Afaik, kye is right about clunkiness of AF when using the Sigma 18-35. Possibly a Tamron, Sigma or Canon 18-50 F2.8 could be a good choice.

Didn’t expect that the sigma 18-35 would be clunky!
