Well sort of. It needs to be mounted on the back lens group and move together with it. It can be done on telephoto lenses that have room at the back of the lens (check out the back of a Jupiter-37A, you could easily fit a Helios back lens group in there), otherwise the focal reducer hits the mirror. Would be good to own a mirrorless cam. That way I would not need a negative diopter, I could move the whole lens closer to the sensor.

The title says it all. :P

Century doublet, 72mm, +2, I'd say it performs pretty much like the Canon 500D, which has great image quality. Looks a bit heavier, though.

 

Price is a bit too high, as you can get the Canon, used, for about $100. :)

is the difference in quality from Canon 5000d and Tokina .04 noticeable?

In quality, I'd say no. But their strength is different.

The tokina focuses from ~1m to 2.5m (+0.4 strength), while the Canon goes from ~0.3m to 0.5m (+2 strength)

is that (strength - range of distances) mapping based on the minimum focal range of the taking lens or is it a constant?

The diopter strength defines the maximum focus distance, but minimum distance might vary according to the lens.

Hi, its not exacty unbranded, the seller has just failed to photograph the brand, which is "STAR", he says its japanese but im not sure. Maybe he housed it on a star branded ring,  I know because I bought it. It just came in the mail. I will test and see if its any good. The price is very good, for a +0.5 hopefully it wont be that bad  :P

at 0.7 diopter it will allow close focus from 0.75 to 1.5m - a perfect supplement.

i saw a european site that sells heliopan close-up filters sizes 82,86mm, and 95mm.

I dont get it. What has the filtersize to do with the taking lens? 

I've shot with a Zeiss 35mm 2.8 and my pre36 Iscorama and there was nearly no vignetting:

nothing. i worded it poorly.

a 72mm diopter will vignette on my isco 54 at 28mm on my taking lens.

disappears around 35mm.
