Exellent observation, Fritz Pierre! Unfortunately out of likes now! Too many cool posts in this section!

Thanks for the edit and grade Luca Yes, Andrew, it is impressive! I´ve been a fan of the potential of the Panny codec/color from G6 on. It´s been giving me exiting possiblities for color work. This weeked I shot my short on a GH5. I completely trusted that pixel perfect HD and its least color mode: the glourious 8bit 420 REC709 Natural profile with contrast at 0. This is a screenshot, quickly graded. Hope to get it through the edit and music and postprod quickly. If 8bit rec is already of such beauty, the other modes will be massive. By the way, I shot it 8bit and rec, because of older hard- and software infrastructure available at the moment:) Nothing more uncomfortable than having footage laying around unedited EDIT: We know about the advantages of contrast 0 in rec709 on the new Lumix cameras, sharpness and noise at -5 of course:) jonpais, mercer, noplz and 2 others
Cinegain
And... I just ordered the GH5! It sounds amazeballs. Tip for our European mainlanders: for the next 3 days still there's a special promotion surrounding GH5 purchases (ends Sep 3th). It's open to customers from the EEA (European Economic Area), provided the order has been placed with a participating UK retailer. You get: 5 year warranty claim at Panasonic UK & up to 200 GBP bonus (£100 when ordering body only, £150 Lumix kit, £200 Leica kit) in addition to the quote for any trade-in compact system camera or DSLR you might have (request a quote to find out what your old camera is still worth). Valid at all the big guys, CVP, Wex, Park, UKDigital, etc. It's already extra tempting to buy from the UK these days already due to present GBP VS EUR rates, but this is a nice extra push. E.g. https://geizhals.eu/panasonic-lumix-dc-gh5-schwarz-mit-objektiv-dg-vario-elmarit-12-60mm-2-8-4-0-asph-dmc-gh5l-a1558095.html?hloc=at&hloc=de&hloc=pl&hloc=uk&hloc=eu I could locally get one from 2549 EUR. As per Geizhals results: Wex: £ 2199 -> € 2382,18. Already cheaper by a fair margin. Take those bonus £200 off and you're effectively paying 1999 GBP -> 2168.72 EUR. That's roughly the price of the Lumix 12-60mm kit, but you get the Leica lens (which you can either keep or sell to make the GH5 even more cheaper)! Just thought I should share. Of course you'd need an old body to spare and they do need to resell it with a bit of a margin for them, so it's no jackpot there (but the bonus is!). sgreszcz

Digitgio
Great review Andrew (as usual) and great camera. But only a doubt, you say in the review that HLG video files looks washed out on normal display. HLG was created to be compatible with SDR displays, so you must have no better dynamic range and colour space on normal SDR displays, and standard gamma curve on it. Is it a problem of metadata info ? Do you already tried to play the files on normal SDR screen ? I'm very interested at this feature to avoid all the grading of log files when HLG is enough and to maintain compatibility with older screen. I don't understand why Sony that push so hard on HDR and HLG on other products (FS5, HDC4300, Bravia screen) do not implement it on their mirrorless cameras... mopixels
Help needed. I downloaded the files and after unzipping, they show up in the desktop as QuickTime files with files sizes ranging from 261MB to over 800MB. However, when I open in QuickTime and play, the playhead moves, but content in frame is black. When I link in DaVinci Resolve 14b.061, the files show in the media browser, with stats, but when loaded into the player I get the Media Offline graphic. Even the icon view in the browser shows as Media Offline! Any ideas on what I did wrong? The machine is a MacPro (classic), Nvidia graphics, OS 10.11.6. No other problems with media. Thanks for any help.

Oliver Daniel
Well this sounds bloody fantastic. Just this week I sold my FS5 + Inferno and ordered a GH5, which cost £1319 brand new. I also got the Olympus 45-150 2.8 Pro for £639 brand new, along with some specialised lenses (macro, fisheye etc). Bought a Sandisk UHS-II to test out, very expensive cards. Anything cheaper that works? I really really really want to do some anamorphic stuff, Im a big fan of the look however I've never done it, and I'm not too sure how to enter it nice and smoothly. (I'm not into big rig stuff and too much messing around with workarounds). Anyway really excited. Lots of GH5 videos coming this way! Cinegain
That's a dang good price on the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO that is. I've ordered one with the teleconverter for under a thousand bucks after a price alarm from Geizhals for an item on Amazon (-33%). But... sorta has 'bogus' written all over it and hasn't shipped out. Grmph. Was eyeballing that sucker for the longest while, would compliment the 7-14 and 12-40 superbly. The super travel kit. Oh well... The SLR Magic 1.33 40 Compact looked like the one to me but the price differential between Europe and the states for it is ridiculous. £699 isn't outlandish really but compared to the $499 it is at B&H then it is an absolute piss take. I also am wondering this. When I shoot with my GH5 in log 8-bit I often see terrible blotches of green or magenta on the walls when shooting indoors. The issue is better when shooting 10 bit but still not gone altogether. I've never had this issue on my C100. Any observations about this at all would be greatly appreciated.
