Axel
This will be very profitable for BM. I don't know if it was very wise to cripple the performance of the free version (no Quicksync supported there), but I guess many will start to see the advantages. 300 bucks (once and for all, no subscription, no dongle) is a price point that won't scare off many. If they continue to improve everything and add features with the same energy they showed in the last years, it will mean hard times for he competitors. TheRenaissanceMan
Downloaded the free version and colored a music video with it today. Performance is the best of any version yet, even on my modest laptop, and the new placement of the black/white point and white balance tools is an intuitive and welcome update. Didn't dig too far into the editor or Fairlight yet, but as a color tool it's still unmatched...especially for the price.
Gregormannschaft
This is exciting. I'm done with Premiere after I finish a current project I'm working on, on my spec'd out Macbook Pro from 2015 (OK, a little old, but still...) it constantly crashes, stutters and screws up. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted September 8, 2017 Administrators Share Posted September 8, 2017 Premiere is extremely poor at the moment. The Resolve 14 BETA is more stable than Premiere in 2017. And free... blows my mind. Downloading the latest Resolve 14 now, and I am sure the performance and reliability is even better. Adobe should apologise for being so poor, and give everyone an opt-out of the subscription service for a one off fee. Otherwise, the sub service is going to whither and die, people will move back to Apple and Blackmagic. It really is that bad. You can't have such a mission critical piece of software with such poor reliability for months on end. Unfortunately, it was only a brief stable period and you're right, the software is atrocious now.
Justin Bacle
I didn't find Resolve 14 Beta to be that stable, as I had many crashes. Now that I've updated to Resolve 14, I'll see if that improves I'm still using both resolve and premiere depending on the project. Dynamic Link is a huge benefit of the adobe suite to me. Ed_David
Resolve 14 full version - been using it a ton - no crashes. Very happy with this program. Blackmagic is a HELLUVA company. no_connection
Did they solve the freezing bug yet? Where it freezes windows for a few seconds for no apparent reason.
leeys
Hmm, what happened to the comparison table of features on the Resolve site? Want to take a look again at what the paid version has over the free one.
jbCinC_12
Tried the lite version, still some crashes on my part, have to save my projects. So it's a wait and see in my end.
TheRenaissanceMan
Interesting. I've had no crashes with the lite version so far.
sondreg
Anyone know how transferring the license works now without the dongle? I.e. can you still install it on two machines - but this time without the dongle? Ari

Gregormannschaft
This is insane. I'm editing with a massive smile on my face. No hitches, project loaded my footage almost instantly and editing is an absolute breeze. Moments before, I tried to import footage on Premiere Pro and it took 3 minutes for the previews to even load. I'm buying the full version. kaylee and IronFilm
apekkpul
Can one use GH5's 10 bit files without transcoding?
Ty Harper
Anyone know whether the new versions of Resolve allow you to export an individual video clip with synced external audio without having to render the entire timeline? I've been using 12 for a while now, and as far as I know, you've had to do a workaround like create separate timelines for EACH single video clip with synced external audio and then export each timeline one after the other. Any word on this would be appreciated tho!

apekkpul
I tried with the free version, and Resolve shows 10 bit files as "Media Offline*.
