Aussie Ash
Kenneth is a celluloid purist who refuses to shoot in digital last used 65mm on his 1996 adaption of "Hamlet" http://au.ign.com/articles/2017/06/01/murder-on-the-orient-express-how-kenneth-branagh-recreated-the-legendary-train-and-reimagined-the-agatha-christie-classic
jonpais
Since ALEXA's entry into the film industry, every film to have won the Oscar® for Cinematography has been shot with the camera system. This year 80% of the films nominated in the Cinematography category were captured with ALEXA, as were 80% in the Visual Effects, 63% in the Best Picture and 60% in the Foreign Language Film categories. http://www.arri.com/news/news/arri-at-the-oscarsR/
Super Members Mattias Burling Posted September 15, 2017 Super Members Share Posted September 15, 2017 Wow, only 80%.. and people have said "film is dead" for at least five years now. Clearly its not. Last year it was close to 50%. Not exactly dead... Oh well. Aussie Ash
jonpais
I think you are mistaken.. those aren't numbers for the entire digital camera industry, just Arri. And where did you read that film was dead? That's news to me.

jonpais
A camera's just a tool, whether film or digital. One is not inherently superior to the other. But there can be no denying the importance of digital: it's democratized filmmaking and enabled work to be seen around the world at the click of a button.
