There are more reports about strange behaviour than usual. The main reason to upgrade would be H.265 support. I will wait for the next update with bugfixes and then check on fcp.co if they are fixed indeed (because my main concern is video with FCP). No one is forced to hurry. As for special software, it’s best to check on ML forum. kaylee
Bioskop.Inc
Just bought a new iMac, should be with me today or tomorrow, & I think it comes with High Sierra installed - if it does i can report back, unless you are worried how it plays with an older machine. kaylee
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted November 10, 2017 Administrators Share Posted November 10, 2017 I have downloaded it, hesitate to install it. Will try it on my Macbook first before putting it on my iMac! kaylee
AaronChicago
Working fine for me. kaylee
Don Kotlos
I am running it since the early betas. Haven't encountered any problems with the official release. kaylee
Gregormannschaft
Just a heads up that if you use CUDA, it hasn't yet been patched for High Sierra and won't be available to use. kaylee
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted November 10, 2017 Administrators Share Posted November 10, 2017 Metal 2 should see some performance improvements in software that use it though. OpenCL in Premiere and Resolve should still be fine.
kaylee
thanks guys. tbh i would be in NO hurry to update, but im seeing some bugs in messages when talking to ppl on high sierra imagine that, bugs in imessage! lol
Asmundma
Running for months. Use FCPX, Aurora hdr, Luminar, Resolve, Photoshop, Lightroom. Not Premier. Rock solid. And lately Canon RAW Light development SW. kaylee
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted November 12, 2017 Administrators Share Posted November 12, 2017 Wow I thought Premiere was a piece of unreliable shit in the last version of Mac OS. It's even worse in High Sierra!! Avoid this upgrade like the plague if you rely on Adobe Premiere. graphicnatured, Gregormannschaft, deezid and 1 other 3
jonpais
I didn’t try it before the update, but in FCP X 10.3.4, ALL I 400Mbps drops frames like mad on my spec’d out 2017 27” iMac
kaylee
well believe it or not i downloaded high sierra and im having serious problems (a) late 2013 imac restarts from a sleep for no reason. instead of waking from sleep like usual, it takes a few moments and then i see "Your computer has been restarted because of a problem". wtf!! (b) nvidia drivers asking for update on restart, although i did that already (c) bizarre slowness in moving files from one folder to another on HD (i thought high sierra was supposed to make that better??) • ironically, MLRawViewer and RAWMagic Lite work just fine anyone else havin all kinds of trouble w high sierra??? what tha heck is going on here~! ? UncleBobsPhotography
After updating ti high Sierra, I get black flickering when i run applications or Netflix in full screen mode. Icons are also randomly replaced with default icons. I got my first Mac recently, and have to say I'm impressed with the hardware but annoyed with the software, which is the opposite of what I thought would happen. no_connection
It took 3 reinstalls to get Compressor to not output silent mp3 files. and Final Cut UI now have zoom controls hidden in a menu which is dumb. Sure I get they wanna sell the touch strip thing but seriously. *edit* Oh and it's still impossible to install to Samsung 850 SSD
