Sell First or Buy First?

Curious to see how you guys upgrade:

Do you wait to sell your old gear before buying new stuff?

Or do you buy new gear and sell the old whenever?

I've always waited on buying but am currently sitting on a huge Kessler package. Need to upgrade for a heavier camera body (got the vanilla 4.6k super cheap) but have a few projects coming up and no one rents the slider I need.

The wait sucks. I try to sell local first and then expand to ebay if there's not enough interest.

I would like to do the first but always end up doing the second.

On the upside many times I find out that the old was better and return the new.

That's probably a good lesson for someone like me.
